We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake will likely remain closed for the 2025 summer season.But while the water may be off-limits, the magic of Lake Lure is still here—breathtaking views, charming restaurants, local vineyards, scenic trails, Rumbling Bald golf courses, and the Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away. Your time in Western North Carolina will still be unforgettable, filled with new memories while supporting this resilient community. White Oak Point consists of 2 separate historical structures designed to accommodate large groups, extended family gatherings, and right on the beautiful Lake Lure!

Russell’s Fort at White Oak Point is an authentic Revolutionary War Fort that consists of 3 stories, has an original hand-hewn log structure has been disassembled and restored by the hit TV series Barnwood Builders. The renovation of this fort that was built in 1775, involved updating the home with all the modern amenities and latest technology, but keeping all the original historical beauty. With four bedrooms and four and a half baths, there will be plenty of room for up to 10 guests.

The Cabin at White Oak Point is a historic 1930's cabin that has been a successful vacation rental for almost 3 years! Original period hardwood floors run throughout, beautifully decorated with historic and mountain aesthetics, you'll immediately feel at home and relaxed. With 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths, this spectacular cabin offers plenty of sleeping arrangements for up to 3 couples

It's an easy walk between both structures, you will be afforded a cozy atmosphere where everyone is together, surrounded by natural light and the beauty of the lake. There is plenty of living space amongst them as well as fully equipped kitchens and high end appliances. Access to large screen tv's, high speed internet and a hot tub at will have everyone feeling right at home, you won't want to leave!

With hundreds of feet of lake frontage and tons of outdoor deck space affords plenty of room for members of your group to relax and soak up the sun. When everyone is ready for a cool down, there are plenty of outdoor toys to enjoy with a combination of kayaks and stand up paddle boards so everyone has a vessel for fun on the lake.

Quiet Policy: Please note that the property is located in a very private community. Parties, loud noise and unruly behavior are absolutely prohibited, and guests are expected to respect the neighbors and the peace this mountain retreat area affords.

Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates.

Pets: Many of our guests have allergies so we have maintained a pet-free environment so they can enjoy their vacation without the potential of an allergic reaction. If you have a pet we have an excellent relationship with a fantastic local dog boarding facility so your pet may also have a vacation. Please inquire for more details.

"10/10 recommend. Though we didn’t use half these things, this place had everything you could need, down to two fire pits, paddle boards, boats, porch swings, rocking chairs, plenty of parking. It was easy to find and the host was extremely communicative from day 1. Everything was clean-i think we might have been the first to use the towels. The two structures were very close and it looked like they were getting a third ready. Great for large groups. What are you waiting for?

"We had an absolutely amazing stay at Fort Russell on Lake Lure! From the moment we arrived, our host, James, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, making us feel right at home. The cabin itself is truly a gem—full of history and charm, it’s such a cool piece of the past that made our trip even more special. The views of the lake were breathtaking, and the cabin’s cozy yet spacious atmosphere was perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring. We can’t wait to return for another unforgettable getaway. "WOWZA what a stay at White Oak Point! This is a unique, fun, everything-you-could-need kind of place. The location is divided into two rentals and our group had both for a long reunion weekend. The host, James (who is really, really nice) was excellent in communication ahead of time and the place is a wonderful break from the regular, run-of-the-mill Airbnbs we're all used to seeing, as it's a relocated and restored historical fort. Despite the history, the houses had all the modern amenities you could ask for, including great kitchen spaces and a nice big TV that the group enjoyed on several occasions. The outside space was just as great - several decks gave great views of the lake, a huge, hard-wired gas grill, TWO hot tubs and several spaces for outdoor dining. There is something like 300 feet of lakefront dock, and Lake Lure is an absolutely beautiful, charming gem of a lake.

"Stayed here for a family trip in which the star was this property! Everyone loved the place and all the amenities were great for kids and all ages. One note is if your party has mobility issues there are a lot of stairs, but otherwise couldn’t recommend more. James the manager was super responsive and had a solution for any request ASAP. My family is already wanting to come back.

"White Oak Point is a great place to have fun and frolic and we did plenty of both when we were there last week. The property is fabulous and has everything you would ever need for a perfect vacation - 2 fire pits, 2 hot tubs, kayaks, outdoor dining spaces, 2 grills, and a pizza oven! But all of that is just a bonus. The real heart of the place is the fort. When you walk into the fort at White Oak Point, you are entering history. Every single item has been chosen with intention, care, and yes, love. The tools, the paintings, the carved wooden canoe are appropriately displayed in the beautiful setting. This place is honoring history and, truth be told, it’s an honor to be there. That said, there is always room for frivolity. I guarantee you have never seen so many bears of the decorative kind (and maybe of the natural kind) in your life! I had to think a few minutes about the flatware because there are no bears, then realized it has honeybees and we all know how much bears love honey. The three bedroom cabin, while not old, is in perfect harmony with the fort. The log beds and quilt coverlets add just the right touch. The cabin has its own kitchen, living room, and 2 ½ baths. The huge trees shading the outdoor space in front of the cabin frame the view of the lake beautifully, especially in the late afternoon. The deck atop the boathouse is the largest I’ve seen, and our family has been vacationing at Lake Lure for 24 years. This one comes with an extra bonus - shade and sunshine which for most of the day is about equally divided for the sun lovers and old, sensible people. The real bonus, however, is the nicest host you’ve ever known. James is a wonder! This property is much more than a nice vacation rental, We’ve already booked for next year.

"We had a family vacation at White Oak Point this past week. It was everything I hoped for and more. James, the owner, host was quick to respond to questions and needs. Russel's Fort is a wonderful log cabin lovingly re-built on White Oak Point and has amazing decor and views. The 3 story home has decks on all floors with very comfortable beds and a great kitchen with appliances that are over the top for a vacation home. The dock and deck were wonderful for fishing, morning coffee and evening adult beverages. We had fires in the fire pits 5 of the 7 nights we were there. Plan on a vacation on the beautiful property soon! Our grandchildren are alread asking when we can go back. Thanks James!
