Special Update – Lake Lure Reopening
Exciting news for Lake Lure guests: Lake Lure is officially open following Hurricane Helene, and normal lake use has resumed! Previous lakewide no-wake restrictions have been lifted, so guests can once again enjoy boating and time on the water while continuing to follow all posted no-wake zones, boating guidelines, and local lake rules.

Chimney Rock businesses are also open and ready to welcome visitors back. This is a wonderful time to return to the area, enjoy the lake, explore Chimney Rock, and support the local businesses and communities that make this region so special. Please note that public docks remain closed at this time. Guests who would like to get out on the water can rent boats through Yonder, with delivery available for lakefront homes or pickup available at the southernmost point of the lake.

"I had an incredible stay at the cabin at White Oak Point! Normally, it takes me a few days to fully unwind on vacation, but within just an hour of arriving, I felt completely relaxed and unplugged. The views are stunning, and the accommodations were perfect. It’s clear the owner has thoughtfully crafted an experience that exceeds expectations. We especially enjoyed the boat rental, spending days on the lake and dining on the boathouse rooftop. "Getting to and accessing the property was easy, and the owner was readily available to answer any questions we had during the check-in process. The owner ensured we had everything we needed and made sure our stay was a positive one. The property's outdoor area was expansive with great views of the lake, and it was kid friendly (toddler friendly/safe, at that!). "Recently my family and I stayed at The Cabin at White Oak Point through Yonder Luxury Vacation Rentals. If there were more stars to give I would. The cabin with all of its amenities and location is amazing. The cabin had a rustic charm but has been renovated with every modern convenience you could think of. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the bathrooms had everything you needed and the kitchen was fully stocked to cook as elaborate of a meal as you would like. The deck was incredible. Huge hot tub, fire pit, big gas grill and so much space and viewing areas to spend anytime of the day relaxing and creating memories. I also have to say that Yonder Luxury Vacation Rentals is top notch. From the experience of booking the reservation on line to the communication and help I recieved from their team leading up to our stay and after was the best I have received from a Vacation Rental Company. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to stay in The Cabin at White Oak Point and to do it with Yonder!

"We stayed at this wonderful cabin and had a great time. I can not say enough good things about this place. We also rented a pontoon that was offered but not required. The whole place was very clean and tidy. The owner decorated it beautifully with many wonderful decorations and wood carvings and too many things to list. There were some games and other items to play. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and eat with. So many places say they have things for cooking and it ends up to be very little. The owner did have everything we needed. The multiple decks were very nice. A big deck with a large grill and tables. A very nice clean hot tub. Another deck over the boat house with timber swing and other tables and chairs to layout on. Steps going down to the lake and boathouse dock was very nice. The kids loved swimming right from the dock walkway, with steps going into the water. There were kayaks to use and also a diving board. There was also a fire pit area by the cabin deck and hot tub. There was wood available but we didn’t use the fire pit. The owner contacted us to ensure all was well and we had everything we needed. He had a book telling of surrounding shops and attractions and things about the cabin and its equipment. There is a very nice very large Ingles grocery store five minutes away with everything you need. He encouraged us to call for anything at anytime. He is a very nice and informative person. I would love to return for a future vacation here at the cabin. Right next to this cabin is a old fort that was moved to this location and has been beautifully restored and is also available. There is a show that details the move of this fort. Interesting history. So we had a great time at this beautiful cabin, on this beautiful Lake. If you are looking for a great vacation at a great location. This place comes highly recommended. I also want to thank the owner and his crew, for all his help, information, care and concern for our stay at his beautiful cabin and fort. A well deserved 5 Star +++++ rating from me. I do not just give out a high rating. This one is well deserved and if you rent here, and you should, you are going to love it.

Amazing stay

"We decided last minute to go away between Christmas and New Years with our two kids. We couldn't have been luckier to book this rental. It is a very cozy, nicely restored 1930's cabin. The location is nothing short of spectacular, located on a huge property right on the lake. The inside was restored with great attention to detail, trying to preserve as much of the original structure as possible, while adding modern day comforts. The deck around the cabin features a huge entertainment area and hot tub with an amazing view on the lake that is only a few feet away. Located within a few minutes to a full size grocery store and 15 minutes of several amazing hiking locations (including Chimney Rock) there is plenty of stuff to do, even in the cold winter months. The property owner communicated extremely well and made this experience very personal. He checked in several times to make sure that we had everything we needed and that we were having a good time. He also set up a showing of the "brand new" addition right next to the rental - a fully restored 1775 Revolutionary War fort. Previously built as a gathering point for the local militia to fight the British and Loyalists this fully restored building will now serve as a rental. It was featured on Barnwood Builders and the owner set up a showing for us with the contractor who was overseeing the project and did the majority of the work. Needless to say that was pretty cool. I highly recommend this property, not only because of the rental itself but because of the excellent and very personal communication of the owner who truly cares about his rental and the renters that want to enjoy it. We very much appreciate it and I hope you will book this place and enjoy it as much as we did.

"Wow wow wow. Peace, beauty, massive amenities, amazing clean lake , trees, birds, boats, hot tubs, fire pits, out doors right at your finger tips. Unique place is an understatement. Part of property is a completely updated 1938 cabin w a 1938 wooden ski boat and other boats for rent. Other part is a 1776 fort totally remodeled and updated as seen on tv show Barn Builders. Wether taking coffee lakefront, retreating from the busyness of life or just making family memories, this is an unforgettable visit and property.

"This epic rental was on lake lure w a beautiful view. I loved the architecture of this place, the restoration of this 1775 Fort Russell was very well thought out. Beautiful rooms,kitchen,bathrooms,seating areas,laundry room and outside swing chairs…and fire pit! Ok can’t forget the jacuzzi. Everything was new and had that cool cabin feel. The outside decking areas were great , spent a lot of time out there just taking in the beauty. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. Host was amazing and very knowledgeable about area. Much to do on lake, paddle boards,kayaks,and had boat rentals available. Left after 5 days and already trying to plan a trip back.

"What a great place! The cabin is beautiful filled with antique knick-knacks adding to the 1938 feel. The dock area is spacious with both tree shaded areas outside the cabin and the sunny platform over the boathouse from which you can take an exhilarating jump into the lake. I took one of the kayaks out every morning as the sun came up and just chilled on the calm morning water. I also did a lot of hiking and exploring in the surrounding mountains. The cabin itself was great with every thing we needed and my bed was super comfortable so I sleep really well. I plan to go back!

Highly recommend the Cabin at White Oak Point

"This nicely appointed log cabin was built in 1938 but restored. We were very pleased. Good location on the lake. James, the owner, was an outstanding, kind and generous host. He was available as well as Yonder the cabin management company. Any issue, however small, was immediately addressed. Beds were comfortable and the cabin had every convenience. The pontoon we rented, also from James, was great. It had broken propeller (an accident by previous pontoon renter, and had to be fixed one day. While the pontoon was being fixed, James went out of his way and offered to take our grandchildren and our family tubing and kneeboarding for several hours that afternoon on his personal boat. The cabin had kayaks and paddle boards for our use. Everyone had a great time. I can't say enough about the cabin and James, as well as Harold, James's handyman. He was also very helpful. I highly recommend the Cabin at White Oak Point. A shout out to Rob, the fishing guide. We fished two mornings from 6:30am to 10:30 am. My grandson caught a total of 19 bass and others of my family caught many as well.

Excellent Vacation!

"Our stay was wonderful and our grandkids loved it! The cabin and amenities were exactly as described online. There are multiple decks with each offering beautiful views of the lake and mountains. We had never been to Lake Lure prior to this trip, but we really enjoyed the quiet and peacful atmosphere. The White Oak cabin is well updated, but still has a lot of great historical lakehouse charm. We arrived a little early for check-in and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, James. He was so helpful and provided all the information we needed to know about the cabin and all the amenities. He also offered for us to call him if we needed anything. We enjoyed everything the property had to offer. The hot tub, kayaks and paddle boards were a lot of fun, and the diving board off the deck was a big hit with our grandchildren. We used all of them, everyday! We decided two days in to our vacation that we wanted to rent a pontoon boat. We sent James a text asking him if he could help us with locating one on such short notice. He responded immediately and within an hour a boat was docked at the cabin ready for us to use! We thoroughly enjoyed boating on the lake and highly recomend renting one. James is by far the best owner that we have ever rented from. His commitment to his guests is over the top! Our grandkids are already talking about our next trip to Lake Lure. If (when) we return we will definetly rent from James again.

Perfect spot for family vacation!

"Our stay was INCREDIBLE! The cabin and amenities were exactly as described online. Yonder checked in with us right after we checked in and provided the most detailed information we needed to know for the cabin, all amenities and also ensured our pontoon rental was scheduled and what we needed. We were able to enjoy everything the property provided - an incredible place to sit and have morning coffee while enjoy the sunrise as well as evening shade. The kayaks and paddle boards were used multiple times by our sons. The hot tub and fire pit provided relaxation and some time for making s’mores while also making family memories. The location is PERFECT! Very close to anything you need from groceries to restaurants. They checked in with us midway though our stay - so thoughtful! We had never been to Lake Lure prior to this trip, but we will most definitely be back - and we will rent from James again without a doubt! For anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing, fun place to stay and connect with family or friends, this place is it! You will NOT be disappointed!

Best trip we ever had!

"I normally don’t like to write reviews but we had such a good experience I wanted to share. My family and I spent the week and it was amazing. The cabin is gorgeous with beautiful views everywhere. Best outside amenities I’ve seen anywhere. Multiple decks (all with great views) and so many things to do. We loved the kayaks and paddle boards. We also rented a pontoon boat and it was even delivered to us. It was so nice to be able to get up in the morning, walk out the door and take the boat out. And being able to dock with ease and take the boat out anytime you want makes it so easy. We also saw tons of wildlife (raccoons, beavers, otters, ducks and even a bear) which was really cool. It wasn’t just the amazing place and amenities that makes this place so special. James (the owner) went out of his way to make our trip one in a million. He let us rent his rare 1938 chris craft boat (you have to see it to believe it) for a sunset cruise and guided tour of the lake. My daughters boyfriend (now fiancée) used the occasion to propose to my daughter while on our trip. They even provided champagne for them on the trip after he proposed. He said yes by the way:-). They are just starting to offer the tours on the award winning boat but my daughter can’t stop raving how beautiful and romantic it was for her. I can’t recommend this place enough if you want a wonderful and romantic place for a family trip. Best trip we’ve ever had.

"We had such an amazing experience the 1st stay at the cabin at White Oak Point that we wanted to came back again! The Lake in April was amazing (we felt like we were the only ones there.) The outdoor amenities are far better then any house we have stayed at. The boat, hot tub, music, luxury towels, the lighting at night, the grill, and of course the cozy fire pit are all part of your experience on the Lake. We stopped at the grocery on the way in and never left until check out. Owner is amazing with his communication and always goes above and beyond to ensure we have the most perfect stay. There are so many small details that you will experience when at the Cabin. You will not be disappointed!!! We will be back!

"If you're looking for a dream getaway, look no further than this lake house. This property is absolutely perfect in every way. The house itself is spacious and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing vacation. The decor is lovely and tasteful, and every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to use the pontoon boat. We spent 2 afternoons exploring the lake and taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. But what really sets this rental apart is the host's attention to detail. From the moment we arrived, he was in contact to ensure that everything was perfect for our stay. He called to make sure we were all set and answered any questions we had. "This cabin home is one of kind. We spent time in front the the fireplace, out on the gorgeous deck taking in the amazing changing of colors. Experienced one of a kind sunsets. The entire cabin was filled with every item you would ever need to spend a relaxing time recharging your batteries. The home was decorated with details relating to 1932 cabin and its history. "We will absolutely be coming back to the Cabin at White Oak Point! We have been to Lake Lure 4 times now in different seasons, but never have been this comfortable. There are so many luxury details to give you the comfort of home away from home like the high quality bedding and mattresses, the cleanliness of the entire property, the boat days, cooking in the pizza oven, soaking in the hot tub with a resort style towel station, sitting by the fire and always having plenty of wood, kayaking to see the million dollar view and let’s not forget the incredible view every morning with our coffee watching the otters while swinging from the porch swing. All of the well kept indoor and outdoor spaces allowed us to feel like we were part of the lake and made our vacation care free and relaxing. The owner James was amazing to work with and went above and beyond to ensure that our family would have a fabulous time! This was truly one of our best experiences with a short term VRBO rental.

Perfect Getaway

"My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the cabin. From the moment we walked in we knew that we made the right choice. The outdoor setup of the home was a nice addition. It had lighting that automatically came on after dark, easy boat access, and even an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. James the owner was easy to communicate with and made sure our stay was nothing short of perfect. I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking to enjoy Lake lure.

"This property is great, lots of fun outdoor activities, boating, canoeing, or just playing in the lake. The owner has put a lot of thought into the outdoor space and it is great. The views are amazing. The pictures online give a great insight into what you get. The house is warm and cozy, and great for a family of 4 or more. The owner was easy to communicate with, he helped with a few check-in questions we had. We will be back for sure, and I highly recommend renting this house.

Rejuvenating Vacation

"What an awesome place on the lake! The kayaks, 2 paddle boards included were easy to get to and there were many areas to launch from lakefront. The lake itself was fun to explore with a pontoon boat and to view the sunset. The views from the boathouse upper deck and large kitchen/eating area windows were beautiful for morning coffee and sunrise. We loved all of the different sitting areas outdoors-especially the swing. There weren’t many steps to get to the decks. We loved the fire pit and hot tub as well. My adult and teen kids loved the smart technology and speakers. I enjoyed the rustic cabin and it’s history. The cabin was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The owner was very attentive and kind. He patiently explained everything about the house from the start! He told us about the area and history of the cabin. Great hospitality from all that was connected to the the property. Perfect space and lake amenities for our family of 4 adults and teen. Would definitely recommend returning!

Summertime Lake Lure

"White oak point keeps on welcoming our growing family with the perfect layout for local adventures and relaxation. The house has grown to include a massive wrap around multi level deck. The expansive deck offers 3 levels to enjoy the lake and Mountain View’s. The bottom level is waterside with sitting areas to watch the kids swing and relax. The mid level is above the boat house with dining table, loungers and a swing. The top level has another table, a commercial Viking grill and a hot tub. There’s also a fire pit to enjoy during evening. Waterside the house is fully stocked with kayaks and paddle boards. The house also has a back up generator to keep house fully functional during inclement weather. There’s a super market 5 minutes away. Downtown Lake Lure, multiple restaurants, sightseeing and hiking areas are minutes from the home. There’s a water sports facility within walking distance for those that want to ski, wake boar or wake surf. The home has a pontoon that can be rented. I would recommend renting the pontoon to take full advantage of lake life. We rented the pontoon and went to multiple restaurants. Took boat to downtown lake Lure for ice cream and a stroll over flower bridge. In closing, if you have a family or people with multiple interest, book this home. The owners have gone out of their way to make the place welcoming to multi functional. Final note, home rents quickly therefore don’t delay in reserving if your desired dates are available.

Couple Retreat

"When you enter the driveway at WOP you're welcomed by this charming little log cabin surrounded by lush tress and a spectacular view right on the Lake. Then, you round the bend to the entryway and BAM! An enormous multi-level deck that seemed to expand forever ... with basically everything you could ever imagine or want! Easy day trip to Asheville and we found "Medesto Ristorante" in the downtown area ... go there for the great food and drink on the sidewalk bistro. Back in Lake Lure our favorite eatery was the Highland Kitchen within a stones throw of the cabin. Our stay was short, but after kayaking early every morning, taking short exploratory trips, really outstanding food choices, and relaxing on the deck watching the boating activity on the lake ... we determined that this was the perfect getaway for the two of us! A very impressive place ... and cudos to James for staying on top of everything. Leaving was "unBEARable" !! :)

Fort Russel

"This was our fourth trip to White Oak Point. Each visit we discover something new James has done to the property. This trip we saw the Revolutionary War Fort moved from down the road to the property. Reconstruction has begun on Russels Fort and can't wait to see it when its is complete. We recommend visiting the nearby Chimney Rock Park as well. Spectacular views and wonderful way to spend an afternoon. We look forward to returning.

Perfect again!

"We enjoyed a week at this beautiful cabin and the outdoor property was remarkable. So much space along the peaceful and serene lake, and so much great equipment--paddle boards, kayaks, dock space, fire pit, hot tub, amazing grill, pizza oven. You can' t go wrong. We were lucky to be in town when James was there and he showed us the amazing 1938 Chris Craft boat that is there and even took us for a ride where we learned the history of the lake and cabin. From start to finish, so many folks made us feel at home and we knew any issue we had, they were right on top of it! The wifi was great and that was important because we both needed to work a bit. Thanks for a great stay!

Sittin on the Dock of the Bay

"We were thrilled that White Oak Point checked all the boxes for all the family. I, to a fault, research vacation trips and properties to a great extent. Is there something that the property can offer that everyone in the family will be happy with? For our family the answer for this vacation property was yes. Standup paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, fishing (caught a catfish) all on property. Close by (10 minutes) are some decent eateries and a great grocery store. We regret not being able to cook s'mores on the fire pit but made up for it with lots of jacuzzi time. The town of Asheville and the must see Biltmore Estate were about an hour away for additional activities, but you really could just stay at the rental for days and be happy with just that. AC and Wifi were perfect (something you don't appreciate till it is bad). The host James went beyond normal welcoming procedures and gave us all the shortcuts to the property and surrounding areas. He was there for us the whole time if we had any questions. A great start of the summer for our family.

Beautiful Views and an Incredible Host

"White Oak Point was one of the most amazing experiences my family and I have ever had on vacation. This property has incredible views of Lake Lure and the beautiful surrounding mountains. The property has several cool activities that came as a pleasant surprise such as; a diving board, kayaks, a fire pit, and a hot tub. We decided to rent the pontoon for five days and we were not disappointed. This property is a true gem!! A special thank you to James for his constant communication and willingness to ensure we had the best experience possible. Also, to Harold for helping us several times during our stay. "This was a wonderful property to spend the week at. The minute you arrive you can sense and appreciate the history of the home. The owner has done a wonderful job of preserving and maintaining that history while at the same time upgrading to modern amenities and luxuries. The smart home features were wonderful, and made things easy to create a relaxing atmosphere. Morning coffee on the boathouse deck was hard to beat, and the white oaks on the property create the perfect blend of sun and shade during the afternoon hours. James was a great host. He communicated frequently prior to our check-in, and took the time to walk us through all the amenities and tricks to further enjoying our stay. He was very responsive and offered us tips on local places to eat and visit. Thank you, James for the hospitality. Great property!

"White Oak Point cabin on Lake Lure was an amazing place where we made our family vacation a memorable one. Everything was upscale, comfortable beds, luxury sheets, modern equipment and state-of-the-art technology without loosing the cabin charm. We ate out but also cooked in. The kitchen was fully equipped with breathtaking views of the lake. The decor had all the history of the cabin and Lake Lure nicely framed throughout rhe cabin. A true history lesson we won't forget. We chose to include the on-site Pontoon boat into our stay. The boat was turn key and all safety gear was easily accessible and in order. It was extremely easy to come and go on the Pontoon boat at our leisure. A A great compliment to our stay at the cabin. We made great memories. Thank you James, we look forward to coming back.

"Our party consisted on 4 adults and we had plenty of room to rest and relax at White Oak Point. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor decks for having our morning coffee to start our day. 90th Birthday vacation

"We rented White Oak Point to celebrate my Father in Laws 90th B.D. He wanted to catch a fish on His day and He did. The cabin was perfect for the 4 of us and the outside area is just amazing. "We overall had a great time staying at White Oak Point. James was very accomodating and easy to reach. He was able to arrange for us to rent the pontoon boat at the last minute! The location, directly on the lake can not be beat. Outside amenities and layout were wonderful, including huge deck, deck swing, hot tub and grill! Views are gorgeous! Only comment is that the house could have been a little cleaner. Mainly just very dusty and floors not so clean, so maybe speak with housekeeping. They were doing work on the house directly above/behind us (on the same property), which was slightly noisy at times. These little things did not prevent us from having a very enjoyable week on Lake Lure! We totally recommend checking out White Oak Point!

Fabulous!

"How, you might ask, could a cottage on a lake in the mountains near Ashville become one of your favorite destinations? James, our host, thought of absolutely everything that would make his guests feel at home (and then some). Saying his cottage is fully equipped is an understatement. We (three couples) had fun with the "smart" elements of the cottage, toasting marshmallows in the fire pit with the expandable forks provided, cocktail hour(s) on one of the decks, fixing dinner on the outdoor grill, wrapping ourselves in the Catalonia blankets, listening to music played on the outdoor speakers and taking advantage of all the cable options on the television in front of the fire. We regret we did not have the courage to try our hands at paddleboarding or kayaking at the end of the "season", but we did rent a pontoon boat for a few days of sightseeing and fishing. James was always available to answer questions regarding the cottage, local shopping and sightseeing in the area. He provided us with the history of his property as well as Lake Lure and we're looking forward to watching a yet-to-be-filmed episode of Barnwood Builders where we can say "we were there!" Thank you James, for ensuring we would not have forgotten to pack anything. You anticipated everything we'd need or want. If we could give you more stars, you would have them.

A Healing Place

"White Oak Point offers a unique combination of restful healing, adventure and mountain beauty. If you want to sleep-in, the beds are like clouds, the rooms are dark and the area peacefully quiet. Want some adventure? Head out on the Lake for water sports (we used the pontoon every day and never tired of the lake view or breezes), or Chimney Rock for hiking. Entertainment for a rainy afternoon? James has everything you could want for your digital entertainment. And if you like the quaint experience of a mountain town boat into Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. It would be hard to pick favorite things about this property, but if I had to it just might be the multiple decks with every choice of seating, a spa tub, fire pit, first rate grill and more deck levels and settings on the property than you could have imagined. Beyond all this, James is the most engaging and accommodating host you could ask for. He answered every question we had and gently answered the ones we were not smart enough to ask! Our family of five each came away with a different "favorite" memory of our White Oak point experience, but each of us came away refreshed, energized and in awe of such a beautiful place and such a wonderful host.

Magical Mountain Cabin on Lake Lure

"We enjoyed one of the best family vacations we have ever had at this magical cabin on Lake Lure. The owners have thoughtfully curated their home to make it practically perfect in every way, from the tasteful, comfortable furnishings to the Google smart home lighting and music, the cool collection of movies filmed in the area, nice large mugs for coffee and yeti tumblers for outside use, it’s oh so cozy and wonderful. And oh my, the outside space is amazing: fire pit with plenty of stacked wood, handmade chairs, s’mores sticks and tools, large hot tub, Viking grill connected to natural gas, multiple decks with nice Trex decking and tons of seating, floating dock, diving board, kayaks, paddle boards, high jump and more. We spent so much time outdoors relaxing and soaking up the beautiful views and mountain air - no need to ever leave the cabin! But you should take advantage of the option to rent the pontoon boat - the views of Chimney Rock, Rumbling Bald, and the surrounding mountains from the middle of the lake are just breathtaking, and having the option to cruise around whenever the whim strikes is so nice. The owners of this property are responsive, helpful, and all around great people who will take great care of you to ensure you enjoy their special place.

True Gem

"This house does not disappoint. This was our family’s second year renting this house and will definitely not be our last. On our first visit the only things the house lacked were an out door fire ring and a boat house deck, which we were pleasantly surprised to find upon arrival of our second stay. The house has that cozy cabin feel and look but set up with all the modern technology, which James took the time to walk us through. The truly best part of this house is the outdoor space. James did not hold back on making sure this house has everything you would want in a lake house vacation, it’s truly amazing. Our kids could not get enough of jumping off the boat house deck, the diving board, floating dock, fishing off the huge boardwalk, or taking a kayak or paddle board out. White Oak Point is a true gem and we can not wait to go back next year!

Great Trip!

"Where to start?!?! We had high expectations for White Oak Point based on the pictures and it did not disappoint! There is something for everyone at this house. Plenty of lake toys to enjoy from kayaks to SUPs to a floating dock to a basketball hoop to diving board and a pontoon boat rental option. We used it all! If you're more of a lake lounger there is the hot tub and plenty of comfortable and most importantly SHADED! space on the decks and lake boardwalk. The grandparents had plenty of space to be comfortable by all the action and enjoy their grandchildren. Perfect for entertaining with the outdoor lighting, speakers, and fire pit along with a small but highly functional cabin. There is lake lure history throughout the cabin in books and pictures which we enjoyed along with all the magnificent views of the lake and mountains. Last, but not least, James was a fantastic host. He made sure everything was in order upon our arrival and spent time with us on the phone to make sure we knew how to use all the cool features of his smart home. We hope to be back in the future!

Absolute Best Time

"We had the absolute best time staying at White Oak Pointe at Lake Lure. Upon arrival the owner took the time to help us get familiar with the house and all that it has to offer. Every aspect of the house and property was perfect. The google technology was so cool to change the light color, music surround sound, lights in the house, we enjoyed the hot tub, floating on the lake which is out favorite part, my son loved the diving board too! We took advantage of also getting the pontoon boat included. We loved going out on the water and just relaxing. We cannot wait to book the house again and make more memories. There is even a diving board. The multiple decks gave everyone space to relax and the hot tub wonderful after an active day. We enjoyed our nightly dinners cooked on the fabulous grill. We loved everything about our stay and are already planning when to go back! Yonder was terrific and most responsive!

Wide open lake access

"In submitting reviews, I always look for both positives and negatives so that someone reading the review can get a clear picture of the advantages and disadvantages of a property. This one however is very challenging as I would have to get very nit-picky to find any negatives. For example, maybe there should be 4 otters instead of only 3 that live in the cove next door. Pictures on the site are great and really do a good job conveying the property, but here are things I noticed that maybe pictures cannot convey: -View- The view is amazing. Because the property is on its own peninsula, and there are just the right amount of trees, you are both sheltered and secluded from the sun but at the same time, you have almost perfect views out of all the front windows of the cabin. -Neighbors- you almost don't know there are any. There is a house barely visible on the hill behind the cabin and they have there own small access to the lake. You barely knew anyone was back there. The tiny house to the left, as you look at the lake, is almost not visible from anywhere on the property except for the fire pit and extreme side of the dock. Way across the lake you have some houses and the dam. So, if you are looking for seclusion/privacy, this is a great property. Also, it is one of the quieter places on the lake too. -Outside Amenities- First the, well I'm calling it a boardwalk, the size of lake access with the dock is amazing. I mean, it almost feels like the 3 ladders/steps into the water might not be enough due to the shear length of this dock. If you are fishing, there are PLENTY of places to cast from on the property. The property of course comes with a lot of kayaks and 2 paddleboards. Some are showing their age, but the ones I used were all more than fine. There is a floating platform that you can swim out to and jump off of. It is very well maintained. In fact, you can tell all the decking is virtually brand new synthetic decking. And yes, there is a gate at the top of the boathouse deck for jumping in the water. None of us were brave enough to test it out. The Viking grill is amazing, it puts my new Weber to shame. The hot tub was great and well maintained. And the fire pit came with plenty of supplied wood and very comfortable chairs. -Access- My mother's mobility is poor. This property was very easy for her to access. There is a spot to pull right up to the cabin and park and then there is extra parking further up the hill. There are steps down to the water, but they are not difficult at all to traverse. Many of the properties on Lake Lure are difficult to navigate. This is not one of them. -One small outside negative- I found that when swimming, if I wanted to walk from one side of the boathouse to the other, I had to walk down a small 5-6 foot wide gap between the boathouse and retaining wall. The problem is that, the surface was crushed rock and this was difficult on the feet. This is one of those very mild nit-picks. I mean really, I could have just had used a pair of flip flops to walk back and forth with no issues. -We opted for the pontoon rental and it was great. You aren't going to win any races with the new Mercury engine, but then again, why would you want to? It's perfect for lazy rides around the lake. On our many outings we saw beavers, osprey and plenty of ducks and geese on Lake Lure. -Easy access to food- It is very close to Ingles, which is your primary food store/gas station in town. -Bugs- I'm guessing the property owner sprays for bugs. Very few mosquitoes or biting bugs and I never saw a single bug inside the cabin other than a fly that followed me in one day. Another extremely minor negative- The property is home to many beautiful white oaks. But one interesting thing about white oaks is that they constantly shed bark, which means you end up with bark on the decking. Of course, this property owner loves his property and makes sure that it is well maintained. We had a clean up crew come during our stay and blow all the decks clear. Amazingly by morning there was more bark on the deck. I don't know if it is even really a negative. It adds charm to the property, and the trees are absolutely amazing. Bedding- Always an area of concern for my family is the quality of the bedding. The mattresses were great. The sheets were soft. In fact my mother made me look at the tag so that I could order her some. Pillows were very comfortable. Communication- We all know that communication is important. Some property owners are very much, hope you like our property, let us know if you have any issues. This property owner you can tell loves his property and wants to ensure you are enjoying it. Communication was great before/during/ and after our stay. And very quick to respond. I mean one day, it took a few hours to get a response. His excuse was that his daughter was getting married and he was preoccupied. Come on man, get your priorities straight!! Of course I am jesting here. A++ on communication. Cabin- Well congratulations for still reading. I left the best for last. The owner took a once derelict cabin and gutted it and made it postcard quality. There are nice touches everywhere and plenty of nice amenities. Cabin cuteness with modern everything- check. Central A/C in all the rooms- check. Gas fireplace- check. Big screen tv with access to cable tv and Netflix- check. WIFI- check. Google assistant in every single room- check. Color altering LED lights inside and out- check. Washer/dryer- check. Keuring coffee maker- check. Large kitchen with every appliance you need- check. Tastefully decorated and well maintained property- check. Large Viking grill- check. 3 otters instead of 4 otters- bummer of a check. Sarcastic reviewer whose family had an absolute blast at the cabin- big check.

Exceptional Amenities Maximize Fun

"The exceptional location and amenities at White Oak Point turned our vacation from good to great. The outdoor spaces and recreational options were outstanding allowing us to enjoy every moment of the day. From from an early morning paddle board or kayak, an afternoon swim, a sunset pontoon outing, an evening of roasting marshmallows to a late night card game or hot tub the options were endless. James was a great host ensuring we understood how to use all the tricked out lights and outdoor speakers. The Lake Lure area is beautiful with plenty of adventures. We hiked, mountain biked, toured the Biltmore and took in some great local bluegrass. This was an exceptional vacation enhanced by the amenities at White Oak Point. Thank you!

The owners have clearly given a great deal of thought to providing the kind of vacation rental experience that will make guests want to return regularly. "I was able to attend a Men’s Retreat recently at White Oak Point. Believe it or not, the photos don’t do it justice: The clean smell of mountain air, the scenic views, the privacy, the comfort – you will be pleasantly surprised! I couldn’t decide which I liked most: sitting in the rocking chair at the fire pit while making smores, chillin’ in the hot tub with friends, or the solitude of the pool deck rocking in the swing when the other guys were out in the boat. It was the first time I had ever taken a kayak out and I greatly enjoyed it! There is a zip line experience maybe 4-5 minutes away – certainly less than 2 miles away. The owner, James, is a great guy: very conscientious & concerned about you having a great time.

"My wife and I stayed a week at the cabin for our Anniversary. If there were 6 stars or more I would give it. James spent almost 30 mins on the phone explaining the smart home to my wife and I. If I had any question during the week he answered. The cabin is beautiful and so quiet. The area is so beautiful. We rented the boat and took it around the lake. That is a must if you stay. The homes around the lake and nature itself is awesome. We relaxed and had no worries about the real world. White Oak Point is a place to go you will not be sorry. Thanks James for a great week. "We had such a lovely stay at White Oak Point! Even though we came in the middle of winter, the lake was a gorgeous, calming setting for a fun birthday weekend trip with a couple of friends. The space is cozy, clean, and stocked with easy-to-find essentials (like extra towels, blankets, soap, salt and pepper, corkscrew for wine, etc.) that made our stay stress-free. While the cabin is cozy and intimate, it more than comfortably slept our group of four, and with a hot tub, kayaks and a tricked-out sound and entertainment system, it was the perfect spot for a fun birthday weekend! It was not immediately apparent to me that pets are not allowed at this location, but the owners were really understanding in helping find a great, nearby boarder for our pet that didn’t break the bank. I would love to return to this spot in the summer to make the most of this excellent spot!

Exactly The Escape We Had Hoped For And More

"We live in Florida and were looking for a Winter escape....cold weather, outdoor fire pit, hot tub, cozy cabin, indoor fireplace and nearby shopping, restaurants and hiking. White Oak Point and Lake Lure delivered and then some...think magical snow storm during our stay! The cabin is full of fun decor, beautiful inside and out. The location is unbeatable...on it's own private point on the lake, tremendous views of the Lake from within the cabin and all outdoor decks, and all within 5 minutes of a great grocery store and 10 minutes to all that Chimney Rock has to explore. Two excellent restaurants are 2-5 minutes away, Lake House and Point of View. When in Chimney Rock do not miss RiverWatch for an outstanding burger (try the Smokehouse) & a great view of the river. Coffee On The Rocks makes a tasty hot chocolate along with their coffee. We enjoyed the Flowering Bridge, a whimsical community garden even in Winter. And stopped by Lured Market & Grill...the grill has some fun lunch options and the market has interesting local fare. As we arrived the new deck on top of the new boathouse was completed....what an incredible view and certainly a great place to gather overlooking the Lake. There was far more to explore than we had time to do...so we'll be back for sure. Too bad we can't post pictures....we have plenty to share.

"Really enjoyed my experience there. Getting the rental was easy and all information for the cabin and usage was readily available, along with fun historical facts about the cabin and lake. The lake was literally at your doorstep and the cabin was very cozy and the views of the lake were amazing. We literally had breakfast outside every day. The amenities were a great addition to the experience. Being able to take a boat out to enjoy the lake was a plus. Chimney Rock is minutes away, as well as stores and restaurants.

"We stayed at White Oak Point for 5 nights. Very much enjoyed the rustic cabin that has been modernized with many modern conveniences. Cabin is a google home, many beautiful lights, gas fire place indoors. Enjoyed the outdoor fire pit as well. The most remarkable thing about this stay was the fact that when the remnants of a hurricane storm passed over and knocked out the power, the back up generator automatically kicked on and we were without power for only a few seconds. Lake is beautiful surrounding towns are fun also. We had a great time and can't wait to return and see what James does to the property next.

Wonderful family vacation!

"This is the second year that we have booked White Oak Point for a family vacation. It was a truly great experience that we had a year ago but I was amazed at all the new changes that had been made. The owner told us about about all the new updated smart features to the cabin. The cabin has the most amazing outside lights that lit up the walkways, which is so beautiful from the water at night! We loved the ‘Hey Google’ commands that we could use for the colored lights and for music inside and out. The top deck has a beautiful view of the lake in which we enjoyed grilling out on the large gas grill and eating on the outside table and chairs. We also enjoyed the large hot tub both during the day and at night with the music and lights. The cabin is decorated so cute with all the ‘bear’ decor! There are so many fun amenities: making s’mores in the fire pit, taking rides on the pontoon boat, kayaks, paddle boards, sitting in the chairs or wood swing by the water, etc. We even had bad storm that hit and knocked out the power but they had a generator that kicked on and made it to where we were still able to enjoy everything! It was a dream vacation and we can not wait to enjoy it again next year!

"We left White Oak Point today with sadness that our vacation was ending but so very glad it happened. White Oak Point is an old cabin that the owner has resurrected it into something truly epic. My family and I enjoyed lazy mornings drinking coffee on the pier, hopping on a paddle board and cruising the lake, then warming up in the hot tub. The grill, the pontoon boat, the fire pit, the rocking Adirondack chairs, there’s too much to do! Lake Lure mixture of high rock and blue water is the perfect site for this cabin’s rustic history and modern luxury. Can’t wait to come back!

"As experienced travelers who have rented homes around the country and in the Caribbean for 25+ years, our stay at White Oak Point was one of our favorites, and offered everything you could ask for in a lake front rental. Check in was a breeze, the owner could not have been more accommodating as he talked us through all of the modern conveniences of the home. The home is a 'smart-home' with Wifi and voice-command Google on demand for music, lighting, and super fast internet. The outdoor deck was our favorite place to hang. There is plenty of seating for casual dining, portable heaters (2) for chilly nights, a large hot tub that maintains a constant temperature throughout the day, a large outdoor Viking gas grill for grilling out, a fire pit area with a large copper fire bowl, plenty of firewood & 6 rocking chairs, all with beautiful views of the lake. The indoor features of the home have been completely updated, including updated bathrooms, HVAC, kitchen & laundry, and a gas fireplace, while at the same time preserving the character and feel of a home that memories are made of. The mattresses are as good as any we've ever slept on. The owners didn't cut any corners in making this home a place as comfortable as you could imagine and one that we hope to return to often. We also rented the pontoon boat for our stay which is conveniently docked right in front of the house making it easy to come and go any time we felt like going for a cruise. I promise you that you won't be disappointed with White Oak Point. Don't wait too late to book your stay, this one will book up fast.

"A dream vacation! The cabin was perfect from the views of the mountains to the cabin itself! The cabin was restored from a 1936 to this up to date cabin which has everything you need! Examples, Blow dryer, iron, complete kitchen, washer dryer, paddle boards, pontoon boat, kaqacks, beautiful decking and much more! Plenty of beautiful hiking right from the cabin! The owner James was easy to reach helping with everything you need, restaurant suggestions, hiking trails, boating tips, etc! I can't say enough about this beautiful trip and the joy I had sharing this trip with my two sisters and 88 year old mom! The joy of seeing her everyday smiling laughing and being a trooper hanging with us going to town to shop or going to dinners! She even went up and down all the stair! Beautiful railings to achieve this! I highly recommend White Oak Point you won't be disappointed!!! Hey Goggle we will be back!!!

"From the moment we arrived, the amenities did not disappoint. First the high tech of google technology was the best. When you go on vacation and don’t want to do anything manual ... this is your place .Google turns the lights on/off, turns the fans on/off, turns the tv on, shuts the entire cabins lights off at once. All from the comfort of your bed, chair or couch! The hot tub was the perfect temp, clean and in the perfect spot for the panoramic view of mountains. The fire pit with the big rocking chairs cooked up our s’mores perfectly- the cabin even provided extendable skewers!! Every single possibility was thought through perfectly. The lake amenities were on point too- kayaks, paddle boards, canoes and the pontoon were must haves for a vacation to remember. I can’t brag enough about this place. I’d like to keep it to myself because I’ll want it to be available for my next visit, but I can’t help but share this review. ❤️

Great week at a beautiful lake house

"My wife, I and two of our close friends really enjoyed our week-long stay in this rental. The owner, James, is a great long-distance host, available by phone at a minute’s notice for any questions and offering helpful local tips and suggestions. A really nice guy. The property has modern luxuries, central AC/heat, big screen television, wi-fi, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc. Everything is high end, James spared no expense as far as we could see. The main deck is big and beautiful with a fantastic view of the lake and the dam. Nice furniture to sit on and just relax with a beer. There is a big new Viking grill, a really big hot tub, a fire pit section off the main deck. The property has a lot of lake frontage with a beautiful walkway all around it. There is a boathouse with a separate deck with table and chairs to enjoy the mornings with a cup of coffee. We rented James’ pontoon boat which was also great to tool around the lake and catch some big bass. We also used the kayaks which was a lot of fun. The property is 5-10 minutes from a nice Ingles so many of the dinners were at home (during Covid times), grilling Salmon on the grill, sitting on the deck and just relaxing. Ten – fifteen minutes from Chimney Rock, 1 hour from Dupont Forest (a must see for hikers and MTBers), and less than 1 mile from the municipal golf course.

"We had a wonderful stay at white Oak. The house is so well put together. We enjoyed every moment we had this week. We loved using the pontoon boat and enjoying the Mountain View's and beautiful weather. The hue lights are such a nice touch and set the ambience really nicely. We were even able to pull off a last minute gender reveal using them and ITS A GIRL! Lake lure is such a beautiful and relaxing place to get away and truly unwind. Perfect Cabin Oasis

"White Oak Point is the perfect property for you if you want to relax and unwind with friends or family. We have rented many houses on the lake and agree this is our favorite. The owners have preserved the feeling of the original 1938 cabin yet added so many thoughtful modern conveniences. We loved little touches like all the DVD movies that were all filmed locally there to watch. The beds are comfy and sheets soft. There are plenty of towels, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags and dish towels available at check in. The kitchen is well equipped with good pans/pots, knives, and gadgets. The washer and dryer work great. The overall location is perfect. Very close to groceries, liquor and gas station, several restaurants by car or boat, and the town of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The cove is mostly quiet so the kids or adults would easily relax on floats, swim to the swimming dock, jump from the diving board or cruise around on one of the many kayaks or stand up paddle boards. Very convenient that there is a pontoon boat offered onsite for rental. The amenities are endless. The WIFI is really good and TV has all the streaming channels plus cable. There are also indoor and outdoor speakers along with lights that work on Google home command. The home has a generator and security system. We loved that the propane was hard wired to the grill (plus it’s an awesome grill!) Also it was nice to sit up on the huge deck with coffee at table as sun came up and in the hot tub with cocktail as the sun went down. There is a bunch of outdoor seating including tables upper and lower decks, rocking chairs along dock, and a recently added rocking swing. Lastly, parking is ample and easy. The driveway allows you to pull down easily to unload plus are are additional spots that well marked at the top of the driveway. A+ all around. We can’t wait to return next year!

Historic home with great amenities of the 21st century

"The last original log home on the lake on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the bay. We loved sitting on deck, by the fire overlooking the bay, listening to the distant rush of water over the dam. It's a magical place with all the modern amenities you could want; wifi, cable TV, hot tub, kayaks, paddle boards and a swimming platform. Everything remodeled and beautifully done with high end finishes. Magical place!

Awesome lake lure cabin

"Mayer had a men’s retreat at this newly refurbished resort level cabin. So many amenities we were blown away. Paddle boards, kayaks, boats, swimming, fire pit, outdoor hot tub and biking grill. Wow what a well furnished and FUN place to stay w over 300’ feet of lake front. By far one of the best you’ll find on the lake. Cabin isn’t huge but very well furnished. 3 bedrooms. Views to die for! Everything was thought of here! Well done!

"Beautifully remodeled cabin sharing the history of the past and the updates of the present. Remarkable landscaping right on the water and the views are fantastic. Kayaks to get out on the water, hot tub, and all the comforts of home. A must place to rent if you want something really special.

Lake Lure Paradise

"I was recently on a men’s retreat and had the great pleasure of staying at White Oak Point on lake lure. From the moment I arrived at the property, I knew this was going to be a special time. White Oak Point is located on a very private area with extensive waterfront. The owner has done a beautiful job with docks and deck area that allow everyone to enjoy the wide open and magnificent views of the lake and mountains. The cabin is from the 1930’s and has been beautifully restored with lots of very cool historic things from that era. I loved that the home was really clean and very thoughtfully stocked. My group was able to cook many meals in the well equipped kitchen...this was a big deal for me since I love to cook. And I was able to easily cook a Thai dish for 9 guest! The cabin also had lots of high tech features including high speed WiFi and cable with many subscription movie options! We also very much enjoyed the use of the spa in the evening as well as using the supplied stand up paddle boards and kayaks! This has to be the best vacation rental that I can remember staying at! I actually found it easy to put down my phone and really relax! Thanks for the great stay! We'll be back!!

Amazing location, tons of character

"White Oak point is incredible! The cabin is great and provided us with all of the modern amenities, but the treat was the location on the lake. I loved the giant patios. But my favorite was being able to sit down on a rocking chair and watch the sunrise and sat from the waterfront. The view was spectacular swimming was great and the location was convenient, especially to golf and grocery. I really needed to slow down and relax and White Oak point provided that opportunity

Incredible Vacation

"White Oak Point defines incredible! It has the old cabin feel with all of the modern techy stuff. Even washing dishes was a joy with that beautiful view, I never want to forget it. There's a beautiful deck to spend quite time by yourself and big enough to hang out with everyone. And the boardwalk next to the lake is so awesome, we didn't want to leave the cabin it was so relaxing. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else while in lake lure and look forward to next year's stay at White Oak Point!!!
