What to Expect from Asheville, NC Weather on Your Vacation

Many different factors can impact your vacation, such as the location you visit and the activities you choose to do. But perhaps one of the biggest influences on any trip is the local weather.

Guests in our Asheville vacation rentals find that this magnificent city offers distinct weather in every season, leading to endless possibilities for things to do.

If you’re curious about the weather in Asheville when planning your next vacation, we’ve got your quick guide.

Spring

In spring, conditions in Asheville go from mild to hot throughout the season. In March, high temperatures are usually in the 60s, but by the end of May, it’s not uncommon to see the thermometer approach 80 degrees. Low temperatures can range from the low 40s to the mid-50s as the season progresses.

When it comes to rain, spring is typically quite dry. There’s about a 30% chance of rain on any given day, so packing a light jacket may come in handy. Still, if you do run into rain, the showers are typically light and are over quickly, allowing you to get back to your activities (perhaps an Asheville Tourists game!).

Summer

It’s probably not shocking to learn that June, July, and August are the hottest months of the year here in Asheville. You’re likely to see high temperatures in the 80s and low temperatures in the 60s. This season offers some of the best things to do in Asheville for nature lovers, including hiking, biking, and exploring the gorgeous mountain landscape.

Summer is not only our hottest season, but it’s also our wettest. There’s approximately a 40%-50% chance of rain on any given day. We recommend bringing an umbrella just in case you do get caught in an afternoon shower! Luckily, these showers can cool off the summer heat and bring in cooler evenings.

Fall

In the fall, conditions start to cool off here in Asheville. While September can still feel like summer, October and November see much milder conditions, with temperatures ranging from the mid-30s to the mid-50s by the end of the season. No matter which month you visit, though, you can enjoy the crisp weather, beautiful foliage, and fun fall festivals of the city.

Fall tends to be one of the driest seasons in Asheville. You’ll likely experience a rain chance of 25% or so throughout your stay. You shouldn’t have to worry about changing any plans because of the precipitation!

Winter

Finally, Asheville can become a true winter wonderland in the year’s coldest months. December, January, and February typically see temperatures ranging from the high 20s on the low end to the low 50s at the most. You’ll want to bring your heavy coat and sturdy shoes for this trip!

Can you expect a white Christmas while you’re staying in Asheville? The chance is slim but not impossible. The winter months tend to see about a 30% chance of precipitation, but typically, it’s a bit too warm to produce snow. Still, you can stay in one of our luxurious Asheville rentals in peace knowing your itinerary likely won’t be impacted by the weather.
