We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake will likely remain closed for the 2025 summer season.But while the water may be off-limits, the magic of Lake Lure is still here—breathtaking views, charming restaurants, local vineyards, scenic trails, Rumbling Bald golf courses, and the Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away. Your time in Western North Carolina will still be unforgettable, filled with new memories while supporting this resilient community. We are truly grateful for your visit and look forward to welcoming you!

Welcome to Paws Awhile! As the name indicates, you can bring your four-legged friend (fees apply) to this perfectly appointed log home in Lake Lure for your mountain getaway! Located in the Sunset Reserve community, you are just 10 minutes to downtown Lake Lure with all the restaurants, wineries, breweries, and shops! The cabin is also just an hour from Asheville!

You will immediately feel at home as you enter the cabin, featuring vaulted ceilings and an abundance of natural light. The open floor plan includes the living room, dining room and flows into the fully equipped kitchen, with plenty of space to gather around the island. Check out the spacious deck off the dining space, you’ll find a gas grill and seating to enjoy the mountain air.

Choose from 3 comfortable, well furnished guest rooms. Two are on the main level, one with a queen, the other with a double bed and access to the deck. The primary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, is upstairs and includes a large screen tv, lounge chairs and a workspace.

Quiet Policy: Please note that the home/estate property is located in a very private and quiet gated community. Parties, loud noise and unruly behavior are absolutely prohibited, and guests are expected to respect the neighbors and the peace this mountain retreat area affords.

Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates.

Pets: This home and property are very dog friendly, and guests are welcome to bring their "best friends" with them. There is a non-refundable Pet Fee of $130 with a limit of 2 dogs per booking party.

Military Discount: We have tremendous respect and gratitude for former and present military personnel. Yonder would like to offer a 5% discount on this home. "Paws Awhile is a beautiful, clean and restful cabin. It's tucked away in a small community with a gated entrance and is in a perfect location just off Memorial Hwy. Very convenient to get around Lake Lure and very secluded. Great place to rent.

"My husband and I have stayed in many cabins over the years, but this one stands out because of its location, cleanliness, newness, and beautiful appliances. Very well-appointed with high quality towels, linens, kitchenware, furnishings, and other amenities. Very private location, easy access, and beautiful views. Loved that the cabin was dog-friendly. Our pup enjoyed her stay as much as we did!

"Five of us needed a place to disconnect from all of the noise in the city and do some reconnecting. This was the perfect location. Once we made it there we did not leave by choice and plan. The beds were comfortable and the home was furnished with everything we needed.

"Paws Awhile was the perfect house in the perfect mountain community. Everything we needed was in the house when we arrived. It was centrally located so we could get everywhere easily and quickly. Getting to Morse Park for sunrise was a cinch, less than a ten minute drive. The house feels secluded but it is very convenient to great restaurants and a wonderful Ingles. Nature abounds in the homes community, while they we saw deer and a black bear (at a very comfortable distance. Our dog loved it as the house is very inviting for your four legged members of the family. We would gladly rent this property again, it felt like home from the minute we opened the door. Thank you!

"We spent the weekend at Paws Awhile to participate in the Lure of the Lake swim race. The hosts added a nice touch with a personal welcome letter and energy gels for our race! The cabin is beautiful, clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the peaceful wooded scenery on the spacious back deck and front porch. We were happy to be able to bring our bulldog with us! The location is perfect -- a quiet neighborhood just a few miles from the Lake Lure beach and Chimney Rock State Park. Great communication from the hosts.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Paws Awhile. The house is only a few years old and it’s in a gated community which minimized excess traffic and noise. The owner has thoughtfully provided for their guests: beds and pillows are in good shape, the AC works very well and we loved the good water pressure in the showers. The kitchen is very well equipped so we were able to prepare many meals during our stay. And we were pleasantly surprised by the luggage racks in each room! Overall, it’s a great house and we would stay again in the future.

"We had an incredible time at an awesome cabin - Paws Awhile was perfect! Like-new, beautiful mountain log home, inviting & relaxing, with just about every conceivable amenity at hand! Our family and our Cavalier King Charles pups enjoyed walks on Lure Ridge, pontoon boating on the lake, several excellent restaurants within a short drive’s distance, and of course visiting Chimney Rock and the town of Lake Lure!! We can see ourselves returning for Independence Day weekends in subsequent years - Paws Awhile will definitely entice you to pause awhile; you won’t regret it!!

"We had a wonderful time in this fabulous cabin! We loved this cabin and area. The property is clean, well stocked, and comfortable. We enjoyed the large table for gathering in the morning and evening. We also really loved the fire table on the deck. It was perfect for quick and easy smores! The location is perfect! The neighborhood is extremely quiet and secluded, yet there is a large grocery store just minutes away. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are such cute little towns, and Asheville was an easy trip for shopping and food! There are so many nearby places to hike as well. We would highly recommend this cabin for a family or couples trip. It will suit any need! We will be renting this property again!

"This cabin is great if you’re looking for a quiet, private, and roomy place to stay in Lake Lure. The home had a minor electrical issue when I checked in, but the Yonder team helped me get it resolved within a couple of hours. If you’re going to stay here, bring lots of food! I while enjoying the view on the deck, and make s’mores on the fire pit.
