Trail Features

Over 2 miles of private walking trails on the property. The waterfall is about a .5 mile from the home. You will see signs in front of the home to point you in the right direction.
Trails also connect to FETA riding trails. Basic trail map provided in the guest book. Guests may walk the trails, but horseback riding is reserved for FETA members only. Subdivision residents are also permitted to walk the trails

Pool is skimmed each morning by the caretaker, with a deeper clean every Wednesday
The pool is 8 feet deep in the center and drops off quickly from the shallow end
Dogs are not allowed in the pool

"Took my family and dog here. House is amazing. Plenty of room for everyone. We rarely left the outdoor area for the entire week. We loved it so much that we added an extra night to our stay. "This was our 6th or 7th time visiting Smaland Falls, and it has never disappointed us! Yonder Vacations did an incredible job communicating with us every step of the way. Tony, the caretaker, was so hospitable, and his wife welcomed us with an amazing homemade banana nut bread. The home, pools, waterfall, hiking trails, and abundant wildlife were an absolute delight. We always enjoy our time here and hope to return again next year!

"I cannot say enough about this house. The house was very spacious and very clean. The pictures do no justice. For an Air B n B, the house was very stocked with silverware, dinnerware, cups, seasonings, storage containers, lots of pots n pans, and pool towels. There was so much to do in the house, you did not have to leave. Between the pool, hot tub, sauna, ping pong table, board games, etc. We did have a slight issue with the hot tub, Yonder responded immediately and the caretaker was there in minutes. The views were just amazing. The caretaker, Tony, was there every other day, checking over things and to make sure our stay was comfortable and that there was no issues. Very friendly guy to talk to you. I highly recommend renting this house.

"I cannot say enough about how perfect this home was for our extended family over Christmas. It’s like the Brady Bunch house but in a very good way! Lots of bedrooms, everyone has their own bath. Well equipped kitchen (our son is a James Beard award chef) and he could create awesome meals with the well equipped kitchen. We loved watching the wild life. Kids loved the hot tub. "I'm excited to share that we just had our fifth trip to Smaland Falls, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic! We were delighted to see all the new upgrades, especially the charming pergola by the pool and the beautifully revamped primary bath. These enhancements made our stay even more enjoyable and relaxing. We had a wonderful time hiking through the scenic trails, waterfalls, watching the deer and wild turkeys roam freely, and of course, swimming in the refreshing waters. It was the perfect getaway, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We already can't wait to return and create more memories at Smaland Falls!

"This is our family’s third stay at Smaland Falls. And as always it was wonderful! Smaland Falls is our first choice when planning a family vacation. We have 4 adults, 3 teenagers, a 10 year old and had plenty of room to spread out and relax. We swam, played ping pong, grilled and hiked down to the waterfall. And we were close enough to do many activities in the surrounding areas then return to this slice of paradise. The addition of the covered area by the pool was perfect for chilling out of the sun while the kids swam. And the master bathroom looks great after the remodel. Thank you for another great vacation. We are already looking forward to our next stay!

Another Great Time at Smalands

"This was our second time visiting at Smaland Falls and another incredible stay. Was greeted by Tony who went out of his way again to ensure we had everything we needed. My father-in-law had asked Tony where the local bait shops was located and returned shortly with bucket full of bait for him. The house was spectacular, the pool was incredible, and the hiking/waterfalls was outstanding. Loved the view and nature – had visits from deer and turkeys and ran into several horse riders. 5-stars all the way!

Perfect place for a family getaway!

"This was an excellent place for our family to meet over the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve. The set-up is ideal for multiple couples (we had four adult couples) because they primarily have King-sized beds! The house is very well stocked with everything you need. I'm accustomed to bringing some of my own kitchen stuff since we do a lot of cooking, but I didn't need to for this house! We brought our dogs, a great feature for families with pets. The hot tub was perfect for cold winter days, and it was spotlessly clean. All in all, this was an ideal family getaway.

"This place is high! Everything was absolutely perfect! I loved the kitchen and it was stocked with every spice, pots, pans, blender, 2 coffee makers! The beds were so comfortable. "We just had the best time at Smaland Falls, from the incredible home, majestic 26 acres, the views, pool, waterfall, hiking trails, wildlife, accommodating owners, quick responses from Yonder and Tony who checked on us and shared the history of the property as well us the best hiking trails. "Our family really enjoyed our stay at Smaland Falls! Three generations of our family had a great time in such a beautiful, spacious house. They really have thought of everything. We enjoyed seeing all the wild life. Saw many deers, geese, turkeys etc. Our teenage grandchildren loved the basement area as a special place for them to hang out. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen we have seen. We loved the views and spent much time enjoying the pool and hot tub area. Thanks to Tony who was very helpful. He gave our young grandchildren ages 4 and 6 a tour of the pond and waterfall! Definitley, will be staying here again. We loved everything about our stay.

Perfect!

"The pictures of this property does not do it justice. It it beautiful! Check in was a breeze, and the house was spotless and equipped with everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Our family had 4 adults and 4 children ages 7 to 11, plus a small dog. This vacation was perfect! We had plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax or hang out together in the pool, go fishing and hiking. The kids spent most of their time swimming, catching fish and fire flies, playing ping pong and making s’mores. We tried some local restaurants, and a couple of adults visited a local vineyard. We cooked meals, enjoyed coffee on the screened porch while watching deer, wild turkeys and people horseback riding. I can not think of anything that would have made this vacation better or more enjoyable. None of us wanted to leave, especially the kids. We hope to book another visit soon!

"This was an amazing spot for a girls trip! The property is so beautiful and the house was perfectly equipped to handle our group. From coffee that was provided, to beach towels and floats for the pool, it seems everything was thought of. We also enjoyed the farm fresh eggs that were left for us. "Perfect! This was an awesome place for our family vacation! We had 4 adults and 4 children in our group. The grounds are beautiful! We enjoyed watching the wildlife from the kitchen as we prepared meals, swimming - at all hours, fishing at the pond - the kids loved catching fish! We hiked, visited neighboring towns and enjoyed local food. The house was big enough to spread out, but still cozy. The kids stayed downstairs - it was their own little haven, while the adults relaxed on the main floor. I can not think of one thing this house lacked. We definitely plan on booking another stay!! Beautiful Mountains

"You will see wildlife and beautiful mountains. The showers are amazing and there is plenty of room for everyone. Loved the hot tub and the drive up is so pretty. I would definitely stay here again! "We absolutely enjoyed our stay! The house and property are beautiful with stunning views of the mountains, even visible from the pool. It was nice communing with nature and seeing deer, turkeys, and geese every morning and evening. There are also many walking/equestrian trails, including one that leads to a waterfall. The Gangs all Here

"Wow! What an amazing vacation with our family. Ages ranged from 2 to 90, with my father as the oldest and all our grand children ages 2,3,4,5,6. The house was perfect, with 5 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms, and a bunkroom for the grandkids. The owners thought of everything and more, the house was so well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed and more. We just needed to bring food and clothes and then relax and enjoy the gorgeous property. The views from every bedroom and the living area were spectacular. We were greeted every morning with deer in the meadow, and they came to say goodnight every evening after dinner. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, hiked to the falls, and played ping pong in the garage. My son and I played a round of golf at a nearby golf course, the course was beautiful, challenging, and reasonable. ($26 senior rate) My only concern is we took the kids fishing at the pond on the property for about 10 minutes, when my son and son in law were attacked and stung multiple times each by what they think were yellow jackets. Luckily the grandkids were not stung. They had to leave some of the fishing gear there and go back and get it later because the bees were swarming. So if you go fishing be careful, the bees came out of the ground. All in all we had an amazing experience and would give Smaland Falls 5 stars, plus 1 for all the extras. Thank you for helping to make our vacation relaxing and enjoyable. I would be remiss if I did not give the highest of praise to Tony the property caregiver, who was there to greet us and give us a rundown of the property and came back several times during the week to check on the pool and the hot tub and to make sure we had everything we needed. He even brought us a dozen fresh eggs from a local farmer. Thanks Tony, you are the Man.

Best Rental I’ve ever stayed in!

"Every year, we rent a house for a family beach week. This year, I talked everyone into this beautiful mountain house and we were thrilled!! House has absolutely everything- high end appliances, beds and sheets are great, stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, large shampoo/conditioner in each amazing bathroom. My kids never showered in the same shower twice, they needed to try them all 🤣 Weather was amazing (some cool days and some hot days in July) wonderful outdoor space as well. I could keep going. Wonderful getaway

"We have stayed in several rental houses and this one tops them all. The house was large and had plenty of space for everyone to gather together. The views were amazing and the pool and fishing pond kept our crew totally entertained. We would highly recommend this property!

"Beautiful location. House and property well maintained. Kitchen was well supplied with utensils, pots, pans and dishes. Lots of thoughtful little things such as great hand washing soap, nice towels and linens. We really enjoyed the trails, waterfall and pool. It was a wonderful week with the family.

"This house (more like private resort) was absolutely wonderful. The house sits on a ton of acres and we got to see a lot of wildlife each morning. The mountain views in the background were awesome. The house is very spaced out and is perfect for large groups! It was extremely clean. We loved our stay and I would highly recommend this house to anyone!

"Beautiful home nestled in the mountains of North Carolina. Spectacular hiking trails with waterfalls right in the backyard. The fish were biting and the pool and hot tub were refreshing. We had a great stay at Smaland Falls!

Amazing vacation with beloved family!

"We stayed at Smaland Falls for a week with our extended family and never wanted to leave! From the minute we walked in the door we were amazed at the attention to detail and cleanliness of the house and grounds. Tony the caretaker was so friendly and helpful! We took advantage of the pool, sauna, hot tub, kayaking on the pond and fishing, and the waterfall. We loved watching the abundant wildlife around the property including deer, geese, turkeys, hummingbirds and butterflies. We used the corn hole boards and ping pong table for tournaments daily! Cooking was a breeze with the fully stocked kitchen and we slept wonderfully! Beautiful scenery and sweet memories remain with us now...and we plan to return as soon as we can. Thanks for sharing this lovely piece of Heaven with us! ❤️
