Special Update – Lake Lure Reopening
Exciting news for Lake Lure guests: Lake Lure is officially open following Hurricane Helene, and normal lake use has resumed! Previous lakewide no-wake restrictions have been lifted, so guests can once again enjoy boating and time on the water while continuing to follow all posted no-wake zones, boating guidelines, and local lake rules.

Chimney Rock businesses are also open and ready to welcome visitors back. This is a wonderful time to return to the area, enjoy the lake, explore Chimney Rock, and support the local businesses and communities that make this region so special. Please note that public docks remain closed at this time. Guests who would like to get out on the water can rent boats through Yonder, with delivery available for lakefront homes or pickup available at the southernmost point of the lake.

"The hosts were super quick to answer questions in advance of our arrival. Retrieving the key from the lockbox was super easy. The place was absolutely stunning. Very nice decor, appliances, etc. Comfortable beds, plenty of towels, awesome balconies. We stayed here during the weekend for a wedding at Lake Lure Inn and it is so close (not even a half mile) and it made it so easy. Perfect place for a couples getaway. Can’t say enough great things and would absolutely stay here again!

"Excellent location. Beautifully decorated. Extremely clean. Although we had one set back of the fireplace not working the hosts did everything they could to try to make up for it. They went above and beyond for the circumstance. Highly recommend dinner next door to this townhome at La Strada. The lasagna was amazing. Chimney Rock park was great.....recommend getting their when they open like we did....that way you can park up top...other wise once they run out of parking you have to take a bus to the top up winding roads. Also I recommend a great waterfall hike about a twenty minute drive away..Little Bradley Falls...has to hike across two streams but it was worth it. One other thing worth mentioning that is a pro or con depending on your needs their is no cell service in the townhome if you are with AT&T....personally I liked this from the stand point no one could bother me and I could relax but for some it could be an issue.

"This rental was the best. We’ve rented in lake lure for years. This one by far exceeded our expectations. The communication from the hosts was amazing timely and informative. The townhome was beautiful, high end amenities, and the cleanliness impeccable. That wasn’t the best though, the best was the main floor outside deck and view. What a great gathering place. Nice to be able to take a walk to the marina, gardens etc. very quiet, great parking and kayak rental that couldn’t have been better. Just lovely! We hope to be back

"This place is gorgeous and convenient to all that lake lure has to offer. The view from the balcony is awesome and the space is well decorated and very functional. We grilled, and cooked in the kitchen and were very comfortable during our stay. There are a few restaurants close by, even within walking distance, as well as a great park and the flowering bridge, we hiked chimney rock park as well and enjoyed checking out what lake lure had to offer. So beautiful, quaint, and quiet.

"Check in was super easy and the condo was very clean. It has a cozy decor and a easy fireplace you can turn off and on with the press of a button on the remote. The condo had a binder that explained the rules and outlined the checkout rules. It was easy. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was the nicest bedding I have ever seen at a vacation rental - it looked like a picture out of an Ethan Allen showroom. Just beautiful. Communication between the host and us was easy. We had a question about the WiFi and they answered us within 10 minutes. It was a beautiful stay. I hope to be back.

"I was in a wedding this past weekend at the lake lure inn and spa and we decided to rent a home close by. This house was right across the street. My parents stayed with us and we each had our own bedroom and bathroom and convenient door out to the downstairs balcony! This place was Amazing. It was a short walk to the beach and the inn, extremely clean, and amazing views!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

"Absolutely perfect! This place is everything as described and more. Gorgeous sunsets and star gazing, so close to downtown Chimney Rock and the grocery store is less than 10 minutes away. Options within walking distance for food and beverages, amazing restaurant next door. Beach access across the street. The house is so big, beautiful, welcoming, and cozy. It had everything we needed and more. Will definitely return. Did a lot of hiking in Chimney Rock and rented a boat half a day - beautiful area.

"Beautiful location with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains. You can even see Chimney Rock! The home is spacious, very clean, and well appointed. We lacked for nothing while we were there, including in the kitchen which so often in rentals is all secondhand items. This kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils, and cookware. And if you don’t want to cook, there are plenty of restaurant options nearby. We loved our stay and will definitely try to stay here again if we return to the area.

"This was a very nice place and the hosts were great. We had access to games, books and TV. We were able to walk to the restaurant next door twice and the pizza was great. The one thing that would make this place even better is coming in the summer when the lake is full, but that’s just a seasonal aspect. We look forward to returning one day.

"Had an amazing July 4th at this vacation rental. The townhouse was exactly as described. Extremely clean and comfortable. We loved walking around the immediate area - the pizza restaurant right next door, the Lake Lure Beach, small ice cream shack. Great view of the beach. Also a great location for walking to Washburn Marina, if you're renting a boat. Excellent communication from the hosts- very responsive and quick, with perfect instructions for check-in and check-out.

"Loved everything about this place. The house and the views look even better than the photos. Hosts were very responsive. The italian restaurant was just a minute walking distance and probably the only restaurant that stays open till 9:30 pm in that small town. The view was spectacular and lake, morse park, flowering bridges are just in the walking distance. My two years old has his most excited time everyday. He loved all the ducks and birds that were used to decorate the house. Thanks 🙏 to the hosts for letting us do a late check out and my son was able to take his mid-day nap at the car.

"If you are looking for a place that feels like home, away from home, this may be your place. Silver Linings Retreat is a well taken care of, comfortable place to unwind. The furniture and appliances, kitchenware, bedding and towels, are all of good quality. The hosts did a good job communicating from the beginning of our booking, until after we checked out. They provided the information we needed in an understandable format, along with adding helpful information to make our stay more enjoyable. The check out procedure was easy. The location was beautiful with an incredible view of the mountains. It also had easy access to walking around parts of the lake. Our stay at Silver Linings Retreat was enjoyable and satisfying. Impeccably Set Up

"We highly recommend this townhome. It is impeccably set up for a comfortable stay. There was ample space for 4 adults (plus an infant). The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the mountain views from inside & the patios. The WiFi seemed great (though we were not heavy users). The hosts were very friendly & responsive to all questions/requests. The location is in a small cove overlooking the main Lake Lure beach & mountains beyond. It is next to the commercial 'center' of Lake Lure, which is quite small but offers a few eateries, shops, & inns. We visited in March while the lake was partially drained for maintenance so we did not have any lake/water views at that time. Note the house is overlooking the main road so there is some traffic noise when sitting on the patio (not indoors). For anyone traveling with kids: there aren't blackout curtains/shades, & some sound travels through walls & ceilings of the bedrooms. These weren't big issues for us with travel curtains & sound machine.

Plenty Large House

"We enjoyed our stay here. It's one of few places where the pictures match what the place looks like. We appreciated that when we arrived the ac was already on and going, there were plenty of linens, and especially that there was hand soap and not bar soap (although there was also bar soap offered). The house is plenty large, it has a capacity of 4 including children, but we easily could have brought blow up mattresses for the kids and shared with another family if it were allowed. All the appliances were nice and new, although we didn't really use any of them except the fridge. There are a couple restaurants nearby. Make sure you take a screenshot of your keybox code, because there's no cell service with t-mobile or verizon here, although we were able to connect to the la strada guest wifi to get on the website to find that info.

"We really enjoyed our stay at the property. It was bigger than it looked in the pictures (bonus!) and was beautifully decorated. Pretty much everything we needed was supplied (at least to start you off - depends on how long you stay). The owners were wonderful and easy to communicate with. We were right across the street from Lake Lure Beach, and had several restaurants located within walking distance. Chimney Rock State Park is just down the road, as is it's Main Street with cute shops and quaint restaurants. The view from the property was amazing - nothing like waking up to Chimney Rock outside your window. We had a few small issues, all of which we spoke to the owners about. They were pleasant and considerate about our concerns. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking to be close to Lake Lure and all it has to offer.

"I actually rented this property as a gift for a friend and his kids for his birthday weekend. The host went way above and beyond helping me to make this a special stay for them. Honestly, the best experience with a host I've ever had. I cannot say enough good things about their friendliness and eagerness to make everything just right! The family had an amazing time. They loved the house, mentioned how clean it was, and its beautiful views and close proximity to many attractions. Their only complaint is that they couldn't stay longer.

"We had such a wonderful time in Lake Lure and a lot of it was due to our stay here. The location was extremely convenient for us as we attended a wedding at Lake Lure Inn and it was the perfect distance from the venue as well as close proximity to the beach and hiking. Wineries were also only a short drive away. The property was absolutely gorgeous, clean, with air conditioning and beautiful outdoor patios with a view out into the mountains. We ended up bringing our four month old with for his first trip away from home and it was very comfortable. The main living area and kitchen was larger than we expected. The bedrooms were spacious and each had their own en-suite bathrooms so we didn’t bother the other couple we were staying with. The hosts were also very responsive and accommodating from the time of booking throughout our stay. Overall, we had such a great time and definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Lake Lure!

"We thought this condo was lake front. It is not and that is my mistake. I didn’t look closely at the photos. If I had, I would have seen none showing that view. About fifty feet in front of the unit is U.S. hwy 74, the main road from the Lake Lure area to Asheville. Needless to say, it carries a lot of traffic - autos, small trucks ( no18 wheelers ) ,and cowboys on motorcycles. I had hoped to sit on the porch and look at the lake and read a book, but the noise was just too much. You can see a small part of the lake across the road, then across a city park.The lake beyond has a marina with many boats . The condo itself is very nice , clean with everything you need. Beds are comfortable. Study photos carefully in all offerings, because if you don’t see, it ain’t there. RESPONSE: We’re sorry you were disappointed with the location of Silver Linings Retreat. However, you are correct, nowhere do we state that it is on the lake and the pictures clearly show that there is a grassy area before you get to the lake. The pictures also show the beautiful lake and mountain views which you can see from the balconies. It was unusually busy the weekend you were here because there was an Arts and Crafts Festival going on that was only a short distance away. But the festival is held only once a year and the rest of the year it is quieter. But we’re glad you enjoyed the townhome itself and wish you well.

"We were blown away by this property from the minute we walked in the door. It’s very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The location could not be better for enjoying what chimney rock and lake lure have to offer. "Beautifully decorated & perfect for a Work-from-home vacation! We loved our 7 night stay at this beautifully decorated and comfortable home. Having read all the other reviews, I will only briefly comment that this is probably the best-decorated and most comfortable rental home that we have experienced, and focus on one item that no other reviewers mentioned. My husband worked for the entire week while we were here, and loved the desk with the pull out keyboard tray and comfortable chair in the Master bedroom. He also loved the beautiful view out of the window behind the desk. We both found that our two different cell-phone providers worked fine here (Verizon and AT&T) and we had no problems at all with internet coverage or even streaming Zoom meeting video calls. The location is great and the view of the mountains from both the living room and both bedrooms is fantastic. The kitchen is well stocked, with upgraded appliances. We also really enjoyed the swing on the porch. What a sweet addition! This home is really ideal for 2-4 people if you are looking to visit the area.

"The property manager, is not only a gift to the owners of this gorgeous condo in the way they keep it spotlessly clean and handles bookings, but they are also perfect for guests; their happiness is their mission. They went beyond the call to help us with a TV issue knowing we wanted to see a particular sports event. Took them some time to reconnect some devices, but they did it for us. This is an upscale condo. Listing is accurate. Convenient to everything in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Parking for two vehicles in back. Short walk to La Strata for a decent Italian meal or Lured Market and Grill for a great lunch. Also near paved walking path to beach, Scoop Lake Lure for ice cream, to visit the famous 1927 Inn, the Marina or, for a longer walk, to the Flowering Bridge. Comfortable living/dining area, well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. Quiet, even though highway is just below property (most of noise blocked by bushes). Then step out on either the upper or lower deck (where swing is) to dine outside or just swing as you watch the sun set with Chimney Rock in the left background. We needed a quiet, restful three-nighter. This condo was perfect for that. Our stay was Wednesday through Friday nights before Mother's Day. Lake Lure was just waking up for the beginning of tourist season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), so we weren't fighting crowds or traffic. Both were picking up Saturday morning when we left.

Fall Getaway Weekend

"We scheduled a short weekend getaway, as part of an annual apple-picking trip to the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. This property exceeded all of our expectations, and we were both happily surprised and impressed by all the tiny details that helped make the stay memorable, details that were clearly considered by the owner and put in place for their guests. The appliances were all high-quality, new, easy to use. The views of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock were stunning. The location, in terms of accessing other places to visit while in the area, was perfect (Chimney Rock and beyond). The home was spotlessly clean, with a great deal of local reference guides, literature, suggested restaurants and sights to check out, etc, all set out for the ease and usage of the guests. The owners have clearly put their guests paramount in their thinking for this property, and we really felt taken care of, as a result. I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, or anyplace within driving distance. It's worth the trip.

"Only random thing was zero cell phone reception at cabin made the one check out question we had tough as we couldn't dial out. And we couldn't find any trash bags. Yes, we've heard that some cell phones have no coverage at Silver Linings. Other guests have said they get coverage fine, so I guess it depends upon your carrier. We do apologize for there being no garbage bags. There should have been a supply under the kitchen sink; thanks for letting us know that. We will certainly speak to the housekeeper.
