Location
Howland House is located along a private road in Asheville’s Town Mountain area, approximately 3 miles and 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Restaurants, breweries, galleries, shops, and live music venues are within a convenient drive, along with the River Arts District and Biltmore Estate.

Town Mountain Road connects directly with the Blue Ridge Parkway at Craven Gap, providing access to scenic drives and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. The road is paved but winding, and drive times may vary with traffic and mountain weather.

While early check-in or late check-out can’t be guaranteed, we always make every effort to honor these requests when availability allows. Paid options may be available.

Pets: Dog-friendly! Up to 2 dogs allowed with a $130 non-refundable pet fee.

Quiet Policy: This home is located in a peaceful, private mountain community. To preserve the relaxing setting for everyone, please keep noise to a respectful level at all times. Parties and disruptive behavior aren’t permitted, and we kindly ask that you be mindful of neighbors and quiet hours starting at 10 pm.

Extended Stays: Reservations of 30 days or more are subject to review; stays exceeding 90 days require an additional agreement. A security deposit, mid-stay cleaning fees, and trash pick-up fees may apply depending on the length of stay.

Last-Minute Bookings: For reservations made **within 7 days of arrival**, additional verification is required to protect our homeowners and guests. This includes:

* A full facial selfie of the primary guest holding that ID (must match the reservation name)
* A photo showing the last 4 digits of the payment method in the primary guest’s name

Very happy

"Very happy with our stay. Much closer to downtown than we thought it would be, easy in and out. Beautiful view, they had coffee / filters / creamer / sugar ready for us and we really appreciated it. Definitely bears all around - we saw a bunch of them and they tried to get into our cars. That said these aren’t big grizzlies- these are under 200lbs black bears (saw two cubs as well) who only want to get out of our way, but still need to be aware with cars/garbage/etc. Easy check-in, very good communications, did I mention the beautiful view? The A/C’s are separate so my son - who likes it cooler than the rest of us at night - could not freeze the rest of us out. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

"Well stocked and attentive management company. The view is fantastic. The fence is damaged due to a fallen tree. Wouldn’t bring a dog until it gets fixed. **Owner’s note: The fence was repaired in late June 2025**

Great Views

"Great place with great views and well maintained! but the hot tub is near the garage and not on the deck. Not accessible specially when it is cold/rainy. The garage door does not open and one would have to go all the way around the house from main entrance to access the hot tub.

"It was so peaceful and relaxing, while being conveniently located to get into town quickly. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and had a great hang-out space both indoors and outdoors. Would definitely return!

Howland House

"Howland House was a lovely place to stay. Our family of four and our dog really enjoyed our time there. The house is in a quiet location with spectacular mountain views. The house has also recently been significantly renovated, and while massive improvements have been made to the kitchen and general living areas, some of the finishes such as closets, windows, and bathrooms seem to be in the first stage of renovation. We look forward to seeing how renovations continue as the house is well on the way to being a gem. The management company was responsive to the issues we experienced with the fireplace not working properly and the hot tub not being warm when we wanted to use it. While the fireplace issue was not resolved during our stay, the hot tub issue was resolved. If you are planning to use the hot tub, make sure to bring flip flops as you will have to walk all the way through the house and the front entrance to get to the hot tub as the garage access to the hot tub is locked.

"The house is exactly as shown in the pictures. The house is in a quiet, wooded neighborhood about 12 minutes from downtown Asheville. The deck and view were wonderful! The people from Yonder were very helpful and responsive. They dealt with some small issues within hours. The public road to the house is very bumpy with a lot of potholes but the house is worth the short, bumpy drive!

Just Love It!

"We have stayed at Howland House on multiple occasions and just love it! It has everything we need for a comfortable, enjoyable vacation with friends. There's a fully outfitted office for teleworking and a great kitchen for my husband, who loves to cook! The location is quiet with lots of seating on the deck and a beautiful view. It feels remote even though downtown Asheville is only about 10 minutes away. Staying at Howland House gives us easy access to all the great restaurants, galleries and music venues in downtown Asheville. Biltmore House and Village are only an additional 10 minutes or so once you get down the mountain. It's always clean, well outfitted, bright and cheerful inside. Added bonus that there's a hot tub AND we're allowed to bring our dogs with us on vacation!
