From the splendor of world class competition at Tryon International Equestrian Center to exploring one of the many surrounding towns and cities, Horseshoe Hill is an excellent choice for home base. Totally remodeled in 2015, the cottage exudes upscale charm.
Professionally decorated, the interior is fresh and inviting seamlessly blending old and new. Sited on 5 acres in a quiet pastoral setting and bordering Green Creek Winery you are sure to leave your worries behind when visiting.

The open floor plan 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage features a well-equipped gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances; gas log fireplace; new mattresses and bedding; plush bath towels; Direct TV Network and W-Fi. Outdoors you’ll find a spacious back porch with a spectacular view and fenced yard; perfect for your four legged friends. A gas grill is provided for your grilling and chilling pleasure.

Everyone enjoys the decks, you can pull up a chair and take in the "sound of silence", observe the night as it fills with stars, and watch the fire flies come out to play in your backyard. Take a seat and enjoy the sound of nature and the serenity in your own private paradise at the top of the world. There is also a fenced-in yard for dogs to run around & play!

Horse Barn
For equestrians there are 4 double fenced paddocks for ample turnout; plenty of space for trailer turn-around; a beautiful 4 stall barn equipped with fans in all stalls, tack room with half bath and fridge, wash stall with hot and cold water. Bring your family, friends and horses to stay at Horseshoe Hill, an exceptional equestrian mountain retreat, surely to become your home away from home. *Guests using the equestrian facilities must provide us with a copy of their Certificate of Liability Insurance with Horseshoe Hill listed as an additional insured. Guests using facilities must also sign a Waiver of Liability Form.

4 Stall Barn and Paddocks:  $25 per stall per day; Mandatory $60/stall cleaning fee and $125 manure removal fee. Stalls and barn still need to be cleared of all shavings and other debris. Paddocks/pasture must be cared for & picked per standard protocols. Paddocks that are not picked will result in an additional $100 fee.

Private home with 4 stall barn, located less than 10 minutes to TIEC, and 15 minutes to F.E.N.C.E. You are 15 minutes to Cleghorn Golf and Gun Club, with 6 Wineries within a few minutes drive of the home. Only 35 Minutes to GSP Airport. 30 minutes to lake Lure Less than an hour to Asheville. This property is also just a short drive from the quaint town of Tryon. "Horseshoe Hill is an adorable house in beautiful surroundings! The house was so clean, decorated so cute & was stocked with the necessities needed such as laundry soap, hand & dish soap, games, magazines and even some coffee & spices in the kitchen! Beautiful fenced in yard for the tiny pups & teens to run around. Loved sitting out on the back porch in the afternoon & watching the rain roll in over the mountains. It was the perfect distance from TIEC for us to come & go during the horse show. Hope to stay again next time we are in the area!

Dog Days of Summer

"My family and I like to spend our August vacation somewhere that reminds of our hometown, and this was perfect! The property is in an extremely walkable location with stellar views of the horses framed by gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Just like my childhood home, we saw deer, coyote, and rabbits. It's close to several great towns like Landrum - home of the Southside Smokehouse & Grill. Awesome BBQ and drinks with a great atmosphere. It's also close to Rutherfordton which is another cool town. We especially liked Enchantments Crystal shop. The owners are really knowledgeable and make everyone feel welcome! Tryon has a great bakery if you have a sweet tooth, and if you can get to the Tryon Equestrian Center for an event, I'd highly recommend it, and if not for an event, it's still a cool place to walk around with a couple good restaurants. The house was spotless and really comfortable, including the beds. There is also plenty of storage for luggage in closets and hutches. The dog loved it. She's more of a walker, but she would get in a few laps around the yard, which is definitely spacious, and offers both sun and shade. A highlight was watching the fireflies at night. I hadn't seen them since I was a kid growing up in the country, so being out in the rolling hills, surrounded by horses and wildlife with the fireflies flying about was special for us. We ended up cooking more than we thought we would, and had to buy a few kitchen utensils, but otherwise, there is a kettle, and two different coffee makers, and a toaster, and everything else you'd need. Ingles is a great grocery store, and if I get to go back, I'm definitely going to get their homemade peanut butter! There is also a Walmart not too far out for toiletries if you don't bring them along. It was a great time had by all!!

June Stay

"We come to NC to do water work with our dog. We've stayed in many VRBs but this one has definitely been the best! In fact, we booked for our July stay while still there. The house is perfect, well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The best, is the huge fenced-in yard for our dog to run, play and watch the horses. We spent many hours sitting on the porch enjoying the great weather, horses grazing, and the quiet. The location is terrific, close to hiking trials, restaurants, and vineyards.

2023 Spring Stay

"Horseshoe Hill is in a beautiful spot located on a dead-end road approximately 5-7 miles from Tryon International Equestrian Center and about 5-6 miles from a very nice supermarket. This is very convenient when competing at TIEC. This was our third year renting this property. HH is surrounded by rolling hills dotted with horse pastures. The view from the back porch includes the paddocks, the rolling hills and the mountains in the distance. It is a great place to catch the sunset and relax after a long day of competition. It is a peaceful, lovely place. The house itself is very comfortable and up to date. The kitchen appliances are all modern in design and in good working order. The interior is tastefully decorated with interesting artwork that looks like the pieces have been thoughtfully chosen over time. We especially like the hinged cabinet over the fireplace that has a television hidden inside. The beds are very, very comfortable. The yard is well maintained, and everything is fenced, so we didn’t need to worry about our dogs wandering off. There is a large, fenced field between the barn and the road. We were able to park our 12-horse trailer there and had plenty of working space. The 4 paddocks at the back of the property have board fencing, water in each paddock and were lush with spring grass. This was a selling point for us as we were traveling with 3 horses (in addition to the competition pony) that live out. There is double fencing between the fields we were using and the neighboring pastures. So, no worries about exposure to horses in those fields. We did not need to use the barn, but I think the plan would work well for anyone needing stalls, tack room, etc. It had clearly been designed by horse people for folks traveling with horses. Joe and Carol are great hosts. Any issues we brought to their attention quickly receive attention. HH is lovely, and we highly recommend it!

Excellent relaxing 1-week stay

"Very relaxing atmosphere, we spent a whole 9 days there and there was always something to do in the evening after we worked remotely for the day. Hikes, wineries, enjoying the gorgeous sunset from the back porch, walking with the dog. The house is in perfect condition, very well stocked. A pleasure!

Horse and Doggy Heaven

"This was our second stay at HH and we loved it as much as we did the first time. This property ticks all the boxes for us: clean and comfortable; tastefully decorated; lovely grassy paddocks for our horses; fenced in yard for the dogs; great hosts! This location works very well for us. It is close to Tryon International Equestrian Center and equally close to grocery stores, etc. We typically cook all our meals in and the kitchen is well equipped for this purpose. We did not use the barn, but we did check it out and felt it would be safe and comfortable for any horses that did require stabling. The back porch is very special. It runs across the entire back of the house and offers lovely views of neighboring horse farms and rolling hills with the mountains in the background. It was difficult at times to pull ourselves away to cook dinner. Joe and Carol are very conscientious hosts and make an effort to keep the place comfortable. The living room furniture was the most recent update. The new couches were quite comfortable and much appreciated. A major concern for me is always “How comfortable are the beds?”. Again an A+ in that department. The best night’s sleep ever! I highly recommend HH and look forward to staying there the next time we are in the area. Thanks Joe and Carol!

All We Hoped For…

"Our one month stay at Horseshoe Hill was all that we could have hoped for. It’s hard to think of anything we didn’t like about it. The house is cozy, comfortable, nicely furnished and very well equipped, as the thoughtful hosts have made sure to stock the house with everything one might need. The street was private and quiet, and the property afforded gorgeous views of the neighboring horse farms and distant mountains, yet it was still very convenient to the quaint towns of Landrum, Tryon and Saluda, and even had easy access to Greenville, Asheville and Charlotte - all of which we visited during our stay. One huge unexpected bonus that anyone traveling with their dog(s) will appreciate is the spacious and completely fenced in backyard. Last but not least, the hosts of this property were extremely kind and welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We’d highly recommend Horseshoe Hill.

Another Fabulous Summer at Horseshoe Hill

"This is our second summer spent at Horseshoe Hill and we have already booked next summer. We so enjoy our mornings drinking coffee on the back porch....It is so relaxing. The view is amazing. The house is perfect for us. Our granddaughter competes at TIEC all summer and she brings the horse as well. The owners Carol and Joe are the best!

The Perfect Getaway!

"We stayed at Horseshoe Hill in Landrum and absolutely loved it! The perfect getaway! Super clean and cozy with stunning land and views. We enjoyed nearby shopping and dining in downtown Landrum as well as gorgeous walks. I highly recommend this hidden gem. It’s also perfect for those with horses as the barn is stunning. I was sad I didn’t have my horse tag along.

Comfortable and easy

"We stayed at Horseshoe Hill for a week while competing at an event at Tryon Equestrian Center. The location was very convenient to the competition grounds - less than a 10 minute drive. The house was very comfortable. The 2 king size beds were a selling point for me and they were both very comfortable. The kitchen has modern appliances and meal prep and cleanup were very easy. The house is tastefully decorated and we especially liked the TV hidden behind a door with artwork on it. The long back porch was a great place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine and look out over the rolling hills and farms nearby The barn and paddock areas are well thought out and attractively built. We had two horses with us that were not competing and they were very happy with the large, grassy turnout. Our two dogs also enjoyed the property and had lots of freedoms to explore in the large fenced in yard. We appreciated that the dog yard was fenced separately from the paddocks and that the dogs could not get in with the horses by themselves. The owners and Yonder were very helpful and quickly responded to any questions or issues that came up. We will definitely plan to stay there again when we are in the area.

The perfect getaway

"I can’t say enough wonderful things about this cute and cozy house! This was the perfect getaway for a girls weekend with my sister and mother. We enjoyed all that it had to offer... sitting on the porch and taking in the breathtaking views, Walks overlooking orchards, dining and shopping in downtown Landrum. We wrapped it up with a cozy movie night by the fireplace. The house was clean and supplied all that we needed. We can’t wait to come back!

Great girls getaway!

"Horseshoe Hill was the perfect setting for a getaway with my Mom and Sister. The house is cozy and clean, the beds are comfortable and the views are absolutely beautiful! Coffee on the back porch in the fresh air was wonderful. I could hear nothing but the birds in the trees and the silence of the mountains. I also was lucky enough to make friends with the horses next door! We loved our walks around the property and down the road to a beautiful apple orchard. We also enjoyed eating and antique shopping in Landrum. It was a great trip & I look forward to going again!
