The Lake Lure area is moving forward with a clear path toward renewal and reopening. The Town of Lake Lure has announced an official target date to fully reopen the lake for the 2026 summer season, beginning May 1, 2026, and restoration efforts are actively underway with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers following Hurricane Helene in October 2024.
Until then, the magic of Lake Lure extends far beyond the water. Guests continue to enjoy breathtaking mountain views, charming local restaurants, award-winning vineyards, scenic hiking trails, championship golf at Rumbling Bald, and the world-class Tryon Equestrian Center—just 25 minutes away.

The home affords year round access, and is great for groups of any and all ages. The home is situated just outside of the Town of Lake Lure, right on Lake Lure, affording privacy for everyone to relax & enjoy the feel of the WNC mountains, and all that Lake Lure affords. Lake Lure is a vacation community, whose residents are friendly and welcoming to guests, (if you even see them, since the neighborhood has private, densely wooded lots that afford amazing privacy).

Get ready to be “wowed” by the never-ending views from this mountain style lake retreat. With soaring vistas, high ceilings, vaulted rooms, and cozy spaces, you will immediately feel at home at Catawba Lake House. There are 4 outside porches, decks, and patios, and the private hot tub for ultimate outdoor relaxation.

While at Catawba Lake House, everyone enjoys all that the home has to offer; from the Game Room, Great Room Electric Fireplace, Hot Tub and of course the spectacular decks, where you can pull up a chair and take in the "sound of silence", observe the night as it fills with stars, and watch the fire flies come out to play in your backyard above and on the lake. Also available for rent, for an additional fee is the 20-foot pontoon which can accommodate up to 14 people. Cruise one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the country and dock at Catawba Lake House. No personal watercraft is permitted to use the Catawba Lake House dock. "Love the house but it does need more items in the kitchen for serving and items in decorating to make it more personal. For the price of the boat rental we did expect a little nicer boat . These items are just feedback but overall we loved our stay!

We’ll Be Back

"Cleanest property we've ever stayed at! The house is wonderful...enough beds and baths to host adults that appreciate privacy. Beds were comfortable. Pillows were great. Could use a few more bath towels for drying hair (only one per/person). Loved the makeup towels. as of Aug. 2024 the house provides TP, paper towels, coffee filters (automatic drip--no K cups), laundry and dishwasher detergent, Turkish towels for the lake, propane for gas grill, garbage and recycling bags, plus cooking essentials (salt, pepper, oil, vinegar). Kitchen dishes/pots/utensils are great. I love this but b/c I didn't know in advance I dragged all this to/fro so a heads up on this would be helpful. Parking is good but requires a 90 point turn (can't imagine doing this with trailer). We had a bear visit which was probably due to the broken lock on the garbage can. So happy they allow dogs! Water is potable (no need to use the Brita pitcher I dragged) and ice makers works great. Full fridge. and wine fridge in basement so plenty of room for food and drink. We had wifi issues and bounced the router a few times. Friends with T-Mobile and AT&T had no issues getting LTE but Verizon was awful and had to drive to make a call (and then get wifi calling enabled). No need for fire sticks since all were smart tvs. Rented the owners boat and loved it. Also loved canoe but ultimately rented kayaks for the kids. Could use some weed-whacking down to the dock but the tons of stairs were stable and secure.

Fun for Everyone!

"We were there with 3 generations for a family vacation. The kitchen was well stocked. All ages enjoyed swimming in the lake - plenty of life preservers were available. Our 7-year-old grandson was thrilled to fish off the dock, even though we threw the fish all back in! Grocery store is close by. Beds were very comfortable. A pack-n-play and high chair were in the closet. The canoe was a hit with all ages. It was a wonderful home. We highly recommend it. Everyone wants to come back. Thank you for a wonderful family time together!

"This mountain and lake house was amazing for our Christmas getaway. Our family of 11 adults, 1 kid, 1 baby and 1 dog were comfortable with enough space to feel like at home but not on top of each other. "We enjoyed large family vacation at Catawba Lake House! Everyone was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all we needed to cook dinner each night. Kids spent all their time in Lake Lure, playing pool or using the freestanding golf arcade game. Asheville is close enough for flying in and out (which is what a few family members did) and also taking day trips. Most of our time though was spent at the house enjoying family and the house. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

"Catawba lake house was the perfect place for my extended family to gather celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. The house is beautiful, peaceful, and cozy, and yet spacious enough to easily accommodate a large family gathering. There are lots of different spaces for gathering for meals and conversation, to snuggle up indoors or enjoy the fresh mountain air. We loved having the game tables, the hot tub, and access to the water at the dock. The house is convenient to the grocery and amenities in the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. And we really appreciated Yonder accommodating a late check-out request for family members that found mobilizing in the morning difficult. Squeaky clean and all the basic ammenities we needed in bathrooms, in the kitchen and at the lake.

Wonderful family time at Lake Lure

"Plenty to do for all ages: included 5 to 73! Renting a pontoon was great fun also fishing in the canoe was available. Visit Chimney Rock! The house is quite comfortable. Two kitchens come in handy for groups. Game room is fun for kids. Washer & dryer in bunk room is inconvenient in the evenings but still doable. Nice that it's dog friendly. The main deck is enclosed. There are 63 steps to the lake but the steps are well done and include two landings. I'm older and could handle it. There was also good bee traps. My kids and grandkids loved lake swims & play. I didn't get in but my dog did! Two large inner tubes and lots of hot tub towels & life jackets provided.

Great Week at Lake Lure!

"We took our family to beautiful Lake Lure - a great lake. This house is nicely located nicely close to grocery, the town of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock etc. We did side trips to Sliding Rock and Looking Glass falls and stopped at Sierra Nevada Tap Room for lunch after. We visited Chimney Rock State Park and hiked some of the trails. We did rent a pontoon boat from Yonder and frankly we think it is a must to have a boat to enjoy the lake. Plenty of space for all 11 of us. The winding roads of Lake Lure are a challenge and this house is down a steep road but you are right on the lake!

"We stayed at the home over Thanksgiving with 5 children, 9 adults, and 2 dogs. There was plenty of space for all of us, and the kids really enjoyed the hot tub and game room! The kitchens were well-equipped and having the 2nd kitchen really came in handy! The lake was lovely - we enjoyed taking the boat out daily despite the chilly weather!

"Beautiful dock, the entrance was slightly easy to miss, because the GPS takes you pass the actual entrance, easy path to miss. The host was responsive, there was a problem in one of the bathroom with dead gnats in the tub, and the they came basically almost immediately to resolve that and any other problems would could have had. The pictures were as described, the sleeping quarters were comfortable, the view on the deck was comfortable and the hot tub was great! Oh and the Game room was a HIT!! I’m very glad they had a big wooden dinning table (which was actually bigger than the what it looks like in the pictures) for a gather for food and board games. It was big because it fit 8-10 people. Great hiking trails that were close! Close enough to decent eateries (they weren’t that great but good enough). Only 52min away from Asheville so not terrible, to get a good dinner and other activities. All around, amazing place!

"I can not say enough good things about this property. It was stocked with everything that you could ask for—large pots, soap, good towels, some spices, coffee filters, and so much more. When we arrived we were a little dense and could not find the wifi password (it was clearly visible, we just weren’t paying attention) and I called the management company. The management company was very helpful and did a great job. Check out is super simple, no need to strip the beds or start the wash. I highly recommend this property.

Great Vacation Spot!

"The house was better than we expected! Super clean, hand soap at each sink, dish soap, great supply of kitchen utensils, cookware, etc. Plenty of room to spread out for our group (three families, teens). Heat worked great, loved the labels on the light switches, two kitchens was a huge plus for storing all our food. Comfy beds, plenty of towels, pillows, and places to relax. Super close to Chimney Rock and the cute little town, we had a great meal at the winery and enjoyed shopping in the little stores. Highly recommend this house!

"Our party of twelve enjoyed every moment at the lake house. It felt as though we were secluded in the treetops. We enjoyed the invigorating walks down steps surrounded by lush landscape to the lake. "The house will fit 14 guests. We had 6 adults and were able to spread out and give each party their own bathroom. The extra kitchen gave us plenty of room to pack extra groceries and drinks to store in the downstairs refrigerator. The weather was awful, so we never even got into the lake! There was enough room for the family and the bed’s were very comfortable. The house was very clean and the kids loved playing outside and getting in the hot tub. This was an amazing time and we will hopefully be back safe soon!

Wonderful home

"This property was fantastic, and more than we hoped it would be. Upon walking in it was clean, and smelled fresh (but not overwhelming). The kitchen has everything you would need for meal preparations. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The double shower was a big plus. The property was well maintained. The lake was gorgeous. Having the canoes available was great. We really enjoyed a relaxing day on the water. Working with Yonder could not have been easier. The rep on the phone was extremely friendly. We plan on booking a Yonder rental to celebrate our birthdays this coming summer, and would absolutely recommend them to friends, and family.

The house was everything we expected

"My family (13 of us) rented the Catawba Lake House on Lake Lure for my parents 50th anniversary. The house was everything we expected and Yonder made everything easy and so enjoyable. The house was well appointed; they'd thought of everything including baby gates, porta-crib, highchair, life jackets for all ages, etc. The house was clean and well cared for and any time I had a question leading up to our stay I received a quick response with everything I needed. Thank you Yonder team, my family and I will definitely look to stay at Yonder properties in the future!

Great getaway to stay in place!

"A few neighbors have been socializing while staying in place and wanted a change of scenery. This house was perfect! The canoes (provided), paddle boards (rented) and pontoon boat (rented) kept us on the water most of the day. We even had luck catching a big trout off the pier! Inside, there was lots of space to spread out. The kids loved the game tables. The well stocked kitchen helped us dine in the entire time. The extra stove and fridge in the second kitchen was helpful. We had remote learning students and remote work adults in our group. All online at the same time and no problems with the wifi. We would love to return!
