Burnt Ridge Retreat is located in the exclusive, upscale and private mountain community, High Rock Acres, which is conveniently perched on its own mountainside, just outside of Black Mountain.
Come soak in all the Burnt Ridge Retreat has to offer its guests, including a recently built and newly updated home, modern amenities, fire-pit, close proximity to literally everything, and more. The home affords year round access, and is great for groups of any and all ages. The home is situated just outside of downtown Black Mountain, NC, affording privacy for everyone to relax & enjoy the feel of the WNC mountains. High Rock Acres is a private, exclusive community, whose residents are friendly and welcoming to guests, (if you even see them, since High Rock Acres has private, densely wooded lots that afford amazing privacy).

Get ready to be “wowed” by the never-ending views from this contemporary mountain style retreat. With soaring vistas, high ceilings, vaulted rooms, and cozy spaces, you will immediately feel at home at Burnt Ridge Retreat. (That is of course if you can tear yourself away from the wrap-a-round decks & soaking in the spectacle of the Blue Ridge Mountains, & actually venture inside!) The recently constructed (in 2008), and only just renovated/updated estate home affords a stunning great room, massive Chef's grade kitchen, a lower level Great Room, spacious bedroom/baths, and MORE; with plenty of space to unwind and gather with your group. But, if you need some “alone time”, there is plenty of space inside and out to find your own serenity. There are 4 outside porches, decks, and patios, and the private fire-pit for ultimate outdoor relaxation.

Burnt Ridge Retreat has so much to offer guests; from hiking and walking trails, streams, and much more. (You can hike all the way down to the river if feeling adventurous!) While at Burnt Ridge, everyone enjoys all that the home has to offer; from the TV & Game Rm, Great Rm fireplace, and of course the spectacular decks, where you can pull up a chair and take in the "sound of silence", observe the night as it fills with stars, and watch the fireflies come out to play in your backyard.

4WD required to access the property, one lane gravel road to property following Hurricane Helene.
The roads in the development are gravel, and normally accessible with any vehicles; however, certain whether conditions may dictate All-Wheel or 4-Wheel drive access. The driveway is also a sloped, gravel drive and only 4WD vehicles allowed in the driveway. There is off street parking in front of the house for 3 non 4WD vehicle

"Great home near Black Mountain, NC. It was really nice to have the space for 3 couples and 3 single adults to spread out. Everything went smoothly from check in to check out. Pay attention to the host’s warnings about 4 wheel or awd. The road work is ongoing from Helene. We managed without any problems with both type of vehicles.

Nice Property

"Nice property. Views mostly obscured by leaves on trees spring through fall. That 1.5 mile dirt road is quite a rough trek to get to the property. Impassable by any low to the ground sports car and likely a struggle in rear wheel drive pickup. I had to switch to 4x4 to keep from spinning rear wheels in some places. Not a big deal. I just wanted to warn people driving sports cars.

"The listing was even more beautiful than the photos. From the view to the kitchen, this has been our favorite vacation renal stay. We spent Thanksgiving here and the kitchen was completely stocked with all of the pots and pans needed. The driveway is steep so you will definitely need an AWD vehicle, but we had no problem getting up with ours.

"Our stay was peaceful at this house. We were 10 friends and we spent most time away from home, but house was very comfortable, spacious and very clean. Night sky view of stars was amazing from the deck. Enough bathrooms, comfortable beds and bedding were provided. Yonder team was just a phone call away. Friendly support staff. One needs a 4 wheel drive to be at this property though, rough terrain and unpaved roads to reach at the house. yet House itself was very comfortable. Host has already mentioned about 4 wheel drive need so it was easy for us to manage. Grocery store Ingles is just 10 minutes away. Nice location. Much better houses in Black Mountain area then Asheville vicinity.

"We had a marvelous visit to Burnt Ridge, simply marvelous! Nestled in the woods, the house is beautifully decorated and well stocked. It was hard to pull us away from the house to tour the area. We spent the days hiking, visiting Black Mountain and Asheville, but reserved the evenings for cooking at home and enjoying the deck, stars and friendship. Oh, the owner and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Many thanks. We look forward to another visit!

Beautiful Location

"Our extended family of 6 -- ages 15 through 80 -- enjoyed our stay at this spacious, comfortable, well-appointed home. We spent hours on the beautiful deck just talking and enjoying the breeze and birdsong. The location is close enough to Asheville to get there easily but you definitely feel like you are away from it all in the mountains. We were eager to hike and enjoyed that there were numerous hikes close by (near Montreat) without having to drive a long distance to a trailhead. Black Mountain is itself a nice town. Overall a lovely stay. I highly recommend it.

"We just loved this home. About 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain. Plenty of space. Mountain Decor was on point. View was breath taking with plenty of room for everyone to sit to enjoy the view. Road to home is on gravel. Need all wheel drive vehicle. Yonder rental was very quick to respond to any questions. "Our accommodations at Burnt Ridge were awesome - beautiful views, lovely home and plenty of space for the five of us. Definitely read the pre-arrival information thoroughly as it is accurate in regards to what is provided and what isn't. The driveway is a steep, but once we got use to it, we were fine! Definitely recommend if you want a mountain top view!

"Great place to stay. We visited New Year’s Eve weekend. We had seven adults in our group. Our goals were to hike, relax and cook great meals. We achieved all three. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with room for several people to work together preparing meals. The views from the house were amazing. The beds were comfortable and the house was roomy with great places to gather. We were close to hiking trails and to Black Mountain and Asheville. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return to this great house.

"Gorgeous home nestled in the mountains with a spectacular view. Secluded, yet a short 10 minute drive to Black Mountain and another 10 minutes to Asheville. We loved the home, large, airy, tastefully decorated and with a superb kitchen for evening cooking. The folks at Yonder were amazing! Accommodated and early check in and late departure and simply put couldn't have been nicer. Stayed at many a home in the NC mountains and none can beat this place. We will be back ! Complete Peace

"This place was gorgeous and very clean. Had everything you would need as far as kitchen utensils, and amenities. The grill worked and had plenty of propane. Plenty of towels and linens and beds to choose from. Very comfortable. The only small complaint I had is the AC is locked to 70, during the day (middle of summer) it would get a little warm but no so much to make it uncomfortable. Just would’ve liked it a little cooler. And there is a significant hill for the driveway, if you have a small low horsepower car it will struggle if you have a lot of people plus your baggage. Just be wary of that. Other than that, this place is amazing. Would stay again if you want complete peace.

"We have loved our stay here! The house looks exactly like the photos. It was well stocked, well beyond what we expected. There are numerous beds for a large family and they are very, very comfortable! The kitchen was well supplied. We loved the ease of using the fireplace. The view from the second floor bedroom was incredible! The house was tastefully decorated, cozy, and very clean. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t ready available there. We felt like this was a true “home away from home” and would gladly return. This was our second time staying at a Yonder property, and it won’t be our last. They are well managed with great attention to detail and excellent service. We also appreciated that our pup was welcome! We would love to know where to find the adorable bear mugs in the kitchen? Beautifully Designed

"My husband, pup and I stayed at the Burnt Ridge Retreat for a week and half for a little remote working vacation. The house is beautiful, extremely spacious and beautifully designed. It is even prettier in person since they have done some design updates since the photos. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck each morning with our cups of coffee. Wi-Fi worked really well for remote work needs. As others mentioned, the road leading into the property community can be a little challenging for those inexperienced with mountain communities and driving. It’s a fairly bumpy drive in. Probably not best for low cars. The home’s driveway itself is also gravel and a bit steep but very doable with an SUV. The location is remote but only 20 mins to downtown Black Mountain. The trade off is the quiet and peaceful Mountain View which makes it worth it!

"The view from the property: absolutely stunning!!! Burnt Ridge Retreat was gorgeous — the home and the surroundings. A peaceful and secluded getaway and the scenery could not have been more beautiful! The home was so comfortable and well appointed, and had everything we needed. The only thing I will say was a bit tough was navigating the driveway as others have said in reviews. It was very steep and definitely cannot be navigated without AWD. Our car was fine but the other car in our group was able to park at the top of the road to avoid the driveway. Other than that, our experience was amazing all around!

"The house was exactly as listed. Our group of 10 really enjoyed our stay over Thanksgiving break… the kitchen has the best view. The basement was a great place for the kids to hang out and the decks were great spot to chill with the morning coffee. The town of Black Mountain had plenty of places to eat. You can even get groceries delivered through Instacart.

"As other reviews state, it’s a bit off the beaten path and the gravel roads to get to the property are somewhat bone-jarring. I little confusing getting there (took the wrong fork in the road) and super happy I did not check in at night. My suggestion is to plan on checking in during daylight and then no problem. Once you know where you’re going and get used to the gravel roads, 3-4 minutes to Rt 9 (paved) and 10-12 minutes to Black Mountain. A really great place for a relaxing hang out with family and friends. Just get your groceries in and then chill out with gorgeous Mountain View’s and wonderful outside spaces.

"Absolutely amazing house. We travel often and prefer renting over hotels. This was definitely one of the nicest rentals we've ever experienced. Every detail was intentional and the decor thoughtful and tasteful. The views were breathtaking. "Best experience ever. Asked for an early check in. No problem. Asked for a late check out. Again. No problem. Burnt Ridge Retreat was beautiful and perfectly maintained and decorated. Only thing to mention is there is no level open space to set up games etc but that doesn’t detract from the awesome views and vibe. Fire pit was a favorite for late night family reminiscing.

"The property is beautiful! The home exceeded our expectations... we had no issues getting to the property. However, I would definitely recommend an AWD vehicle as the community is not paved and there could be issues in bad weather... other then the drive in, everything else was amazing!

Remote and Beautiful Home

"This is a remote and beautiful home. The views are spectacular and you won’t be bothered by noisy neighbors. Your about 10 minutes into the quaint town of Black Mountain where restaurants and shops are wonderful. Take the Graybeard Trail hike to the waterfall - 6 miles round trip but not to difficult.

Great Family Trip

"The place was beautiful. Great spaces. Kitchen was great for many people cooking together. Had a great time with my family. While there was wifi, internet speeds are not what you would consider fast. That said, our time there was focused on time with family, so this wasn't a huge issue.

Awesome Home

"This place was amazing! Plenty of space for all of us and it was tastefully designed. The views were fantastic! The only downside was my brother has a Honda Pilot and really struggled getting up the driveway. They then found the parking spot on the top so they didn’t need to deal with that issue any longer. Rented many cabins in my life and by far this one was my favorite!

"We had 4 couples and kids at the house this past weekend. The house is set-up great for multiple families. The kitchen was cozy and well stocked. We loved the wall in the game room - the kids signed their names! Definitely a repeat event!

"We vacationed with 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies. House was professionally stocked and laid out. Lots of clear instructions, ample towels, TP soap, we had a small issue with the grill that they took care of super quick. Great house, listing is spot on!

Wonderful Retreat

"We enjoyed every minute of our stay. A perfect family retreat. We found the home to be well kept, clean, spacious, and with all the amenities needed. We utilized everything the home had to offer from the foosball table to the grill.
