Three of our favorite studios in Asheville are:
Lexington Glassworks: This 5,000 sq. ft working studio is considered one of the areas premier glassblowing studio and gallery. Lexington Glassworks is a working studio that features high quality custom lighting and handmade glass.

North Carolina Glass Center: The North Carolina Glass Center is a non-profit, public access glass studio and gallery. Their low-cost shared studios help emerging artists launch their careers. Their furnaces, torches, and kilns enable established glass artists to pursue new and ambitious challenges and their gallery showcases the finest work from undiscovered to established glass artists in Western North Carolina.

Level 42 Gallery: Level 42 Gallery is located in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. Their gallery focuses primarily on glass art but they also represent a wide range of other mediums as well. Studio 42 is a dedicated borosilicate flameworking studio connected to the gallery. Currently their studio is home to over 18 local glass artists and is home to year round classes, demos, torch rentals, and events.

The Process:
Glass blowing is a delicate alchemy of heat, timing, and skill. Watching the process unfold is nothing short of magical. The glass begins as a glowing, viscous mass, pliable and waiting to be transformed. Artists use a blowpipe to gather the molten glass, shaping it with various tools and techniques. The dance of the glass blower and the ever-changing shape of the piece as it cools are a testament to the artist’s mastery over the medium.
