The high-energy slow-moving caravan starts at 3:05 PM – rain or shine.
The parade will snake through the South Slope brewery district on the edge of downtown. They will line up on Federal Alley (fun to mingle there before the parade). The route is about a half mile, so there’s plenty of room to watch. The parade steps off at its traditional time of 3:05 PM and heads east on Hilliard Ave before turning south on Coxe Ave. It continues east on Banks Ave, turn briefly south on Church St., then west on Buxton Ave. and back to Federal Alley to finish up. Established in 2017, the WNC Herb Marketing Association is dedicated to supporting herb growers and herbal product makers in the western North Carolina region. Originally part of the NC Herb Association, overseeing the festival from 1990 to 2017, we became an independent nonprofit organization to concentrate on the unique needs of the mountain region.
Our signature event, the Spring Herb Festival, takes center stage as the highlight of our annual calendar. In 2023, the festival returns to the Exhibition Hall at the WNC Agricultural Center. Located on Boylston Highway/Airport Road, just south of the Asheville Airport, the festival will unfold from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Join us for a celebration of herbs, their growers, and the diverse world of herbal products in the scenic mountain region of western North Carolina.
