Skyview: This log cabin perched atop White Oak Mountain, above Tryon and Columbus, offers picturesque, inspiring, and restful views as far as Charlotte on a clear day. Ideal for creating family memories. Watch the sunrise over coffee in the great room, stay to see the hawks soaring thermals, or watch the weather form below. Picnic and walk to the private lakes, Shunkawunken Falls, or the meadows which are the old ruins of President Coolidge's wife's painting and reading retreat. Shop for antiques in Landrum, thrill on the best zipline in the US, inner tube for hours on the Green River, or check out Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and Asheville. Another family favorite is Carl Sandburg's historic house and goat farm, and the hike up to Pearson Falls. BBQ or James Beard chefs in Saluda, or Skyview's dining room table seats 12, with many choices from pizza to French bistro in between. Walk to Sunset Rock to see colors and layers of Smokey Mountains that will melt your heart. Clean dogs welcome too; fenced run in back. You can have it all at Skyview!

What You Can Expect: Skyview is a perfect gathering spot for families, artists, readers, hikers, cyclists in training, runners, families, TIEC equestrian crowd, and/or those just looking to get-away from it all. At an elevation of 3,000 feet, the cabin offers unforgettable sunrise views, stargazing, mountain views, and nature in abundance! Depending on the season, you are likely to see deer, chipmunk, squirrels, hummingbirds, fireflies, blue dragonflies, fish, frogs, turtles, and wild berries all along the road, or heritage daffodils, and rare native ferns. This is a perfect home if you're seeking time to unwind, read a book or take a slow hike and listen to nature.
Built as a mountaintop retreat from Florida summers, Skyview expanded from the original cabin to welcome more family. In the summer, the top of White Oak Mountain is 10 degrees cooler than the valley. Rainstorms under its roof are a delight; clouds roll through the mountains like a picture. Thanksgiving is perfect here! Christmas might bring a dusting of snow; you can decorate the 9 foot lighted tree with popcorn and cranberries and paper chains. In any season, as you ascend White Oak Mountain you will hear the sounds of the world fall away, replaced by the sounds of nature, the rustle of oak leave, the wind's whistle in the pines, the cicadas thrumming, or the cheer of blue birds, and then the peaceful quiet.
As you look out across the mountains, every direction could be a painting. In fact, other than Native Americans who originally settled the region, some of the first cabins atop White Oak Mountain were built by painters captivated by the light on the surrounding mountains.
