You’re staying in the Hendersonville area and would love to go on a hike! This is a dilemma only because there are so many outstanding trails that you can choose from. Here are 3 areas all within an hours drive that we personally recommend and are worthy of consideration. Below the map are links to each of those 3 areas that will give you a number of options to choose from and our personal recommendations. These hikes range from easy to moderate.

1 – Pisgah Forest: I would recommend the Cove Creek and Caney Bottom Hike, you will see some outstanding water elements. Moderate

2 – DuPont State Forest: To maximize your time in DuPont State Forest, we would suggest 2 locations pretty close to each other:

a) This would include Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls (all of which were locations in the film “Last of the Mohicans”) Easy

b) This is not a long hike by itself, but there are loop options along the way and it does offer beautiful long range  views at the top. Easy-Moderate

3 – Green River Gamelands: I’m a big fan of the Pulliam Creek Trail. For the  more adventurous, take a right after about 1.25 miles in. This will drop down steeply to the famous Green River Narrows. It’s a tricky decent that did have tied ropes to assist.  For the less adventurous, we would recommend staying on the trail where you will end up at the river. This is an out and back trail. Moderate

If you would prefer a personal guide who’s very familiar with these areas, please let us know. Depending on location and duration, there would be an additional fee and would include a packed lunch.

Enjoy, be respectful and be careful!
