Christmas at Biltmore & More | Festive Asheville Holiday Events

From baking cookies to binging seasonally-appropriate movies, every family has their own holiday traditions. If you want to add extra magic to your celebrations this year, consider packing your bags and heading to Asheville. During the winter, this popular North Carolina town looks like something straight out of a holiday movie. With countless festive events taking place throughout the winter, including Christmas at Biltmore, there’s no shortage of ways to add more holiday fun to your itinerary when staying at a rental from Yonder Luxury Vacation Rentals.

A Guide to 5 Memorable Events & Festivals

Asheville’s calendar of events is jampacked with incredible things to do year-round, and the holiday season is no exception.

  1. Kick off the holiday season with the Asheville Holiday Parade. Taking place mid-November, watch more than 100 participants make their way through downtown Asheville before getting your pictures taken at the Restoration Hotel Asheville.
  2. Perhaps one of the most popular events is Christmas At Biltmore. Choose between the daytime celebration or candlelight events. Both run from November through the beginning of January and showcase the majestic estate in all its splendor.
  3. If your family loves driving around and looking at holiday light displays, you don’t want to miss Winter Lights. Taking place at the North Carolina Arboretum from mid-November through December, the walk-through light show is made possible thanks to over one million lights.
  4. Another popular annual event is the Dickens in the Village Festival. Scheduled for the beginning of December, Dickens carolers stroll through the village, helping visitors get into the holiday spirit.
  5. One of the most unique festivities is the annual Santa on the Chimney. Make your way to Chimney Rock Park to watch Santa rappel down the 314′ rock face. Once he’s back on solid ground, you can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Clause, hike with an elf, and enjoy live music.

While not in Asheville, we’d be remiss not to mention The Polar Express. Departing from the Bryson City Depot, the annual ride brings the classic holiday story to life. During the ride, you and your family can enjoy hot chocolate while listening to the famous story. There might even be a visit from Jolly Saint Nick himself.
